Editorial reviews

Amanda Ronconi narrates this humorous mystery with the vocal equivalent of an eye roll. While she doesn’t sound bored, she certainly sounds annoyed. But imagine her character’s predicament: She’s purchased an old crumbling Victorian on the Jersey shore, she’s fixing it up into a guesthouse, her precocious nine-year-old is hectoring, and now she finds out the Victorian is haunted!

Admittedly contrived, over-the-top, and including references that will be dated unto obscurity within the next decade or sooner, Night of the Living Deed seeks to achieve only one thing: Your temporary laughter and merriment at - or with - Ronconi’s eye-rolling voice.

wonderful story wonderfully done

‘Night of the Living Deed” is a well written, fun story for those looking for a little getaway. The story is well crafted and intriguing (I guessed the killer wrong a couple of times) winding its way around and through this sleepy little coastal town. With some great characters and smart quips this book is a fun trip!

Ms. Ronconi does a great job bringing the characters to life and really making the listener feel as if they are right there in this guest house!

Fun Story

This was a fun story lo listen to in the background while performing chores. I would, however, say that I didn’t particularly enjoy the narrator.
While this is definitely not a masterpiece of literature, it is a light story to pass the time.

The never ending story

What did you like best about Night of the Living Deed? What did you like least?

I like the voice of the performer and it least is how long the book was!

A Fun and Entertaining Story!

This was a fun and entertaining story that had me laughing out loud several times. The reader was a little nasally (sp?) sounding, which was slightly annoying, but the story pulled me in right away and got me past it. She may even have been doing it on purpose to lend to the feel of the story. For the most part, the reader did a good job "performing" the book. All the characters were distinguished well from each other. She did great Jersey accents, but sorry, she stinks at any type of Scottish or British accent. The 9 year old character, "Melissa" was a darling. This book would be a fun movie!

I loved this book!

Murder mystery, comedy...witty ghosts! If you like cozy mysteries and/or paranormal stories do yourself a favor and listen to "Night I the Living Deed" by E.J. Copperman.
Allison, a single mom of a precocious little girl decides to move back to her native seaside town of Harbor Haven, New Jersey after her recent divorce from 'the swine'. Fixing up an old Victorian house as a guest house seems to be a good way to live in a nice house and make a living for her and her 9 year old daughter, Melissa (who reminds me of my 9 year old daughter, Lily). Plus she is really good with tools and has a contractor friend for help. What she didn't count on is that the spirits of 2 recently deceased people would also be living there. After having a bucket of joint compound dropped on her head, she sees dead people...well at least 2 of them, and they want her to find out who killed them!
The narrator is the amazing Amanda Ronconi, which is why I decided to buy this book in the first place. She is incredible at doing multiple voices, and she specializes in paranormal humor! I laughed out loud multiple times during this book, and immediately got the next one which I also loved, and I am about to start #3. I honestly had never read a 'cozy mystery' but I really think this counts as one! It had me on the edge of my seat, laughing, falling in love with a new set of book friends and I loved every minute of it!

ANOTHER FAVORITE SERIES

I think it is possible to have hundreds of favorite series of books, at least it is for me! This is definitely another one for me. I am quite at home with sarcastic people and places. Allison is almost like a long lost sister. I love, love, love Paul and Maxie. I am glad that they are all family. The ripping up of Allison's guest house breaks my heart and I think she should have used the deed to her best advantage. This story is frocked with humor, intrigue, mystery and ghosts. If you are looking for a feel good book with a dash of mystery included, this is the book for you! IMO, it is well worth the credit and makes for wonderful entertainment. Give it a go and let me know what you think!

A Bit of a Shaky Start

In this first book of this series, I found the story a bit undone and predictable. However, there are good bones here, and I will continue with the series to see where it goes.
