“Laurell K. Hamilton’s sexiest book, and that’s saying something.... The relationships between the characters take center stage.” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

“The definitive book in the series...Laurel K. Hamilton has written the best book of her career because she gives the audience the answers they have been waiting for. This action-supernatural thriller is a keeper and with the passage of time will be considered a classic.” (BookBrowser)

Finally!

Thank you Audible. I had the entire Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton on audio. Except for this one. I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am to now own it.

Great book

Love the book. Liked the Narrator since Guilty Pleasures, though I liked how there used to be some sound effects that added to the suspense; I miss that.

Series arc starts with a BANG

I consider Narcissus in Chains to be the start of the next series arc, where Anita has accepted her connections with the guys. She is constantly learning to accept that she is who she is, no matter how she continues to grow and change. And she’s going to protect what she has - her guys, local humans, and local shifters.
Anita has been avoiding both Jean-Claude and Richard for most of a year and knows it’s time to go home, and to reconcile with them. No one expects Anita to start collecting powers like a Master Vampire when their marks are married again. Amazing action and powers and opposition in this one.
Love Kimberly Alexis handling narration. Many, many thanks to whoever was proactive in getting this recording rereleased. We’ve waited a very long time for it.

Not as good as the first books

The first half of the story was a struggle to push through. I like the mystery part of these stories. Anita is getting hard to like.

good but...

first in the series to really dive into the sexy-sexy time. Great story in a lot of ways, but I wish they hadn't played into the DID/multiple personality bad guy trope.

Finally no killing sounds

This book was good for the listening portion. No strange music in the background, no killing sounds like in previous books. I was able to enjoy it as much as I did reading it.

Narcissus in chains

The only thing I don’t like is when Anita always says what do you mean I love the story’s in all of the books. Juan Claud. Should be more. Frightening. And more sex

Emotional Rollercoaster !!!!

WoW ! Where to begin with this book ? I really enjoyed the new characters that were introduced and the new love interests (both sexual and non sexual) that were introduced for Anita in this book. It was nice to see some loose ends tied up and it was nice to see Anita loosen up a little when it comes to her sexual morality.... I was disappointed that there wasn’t much of Anita as an individual in this book. Her life seems to be nothing but death, fighting, relationship turmoil, preternatural creatures, and SEX SEX SEX or sometimes her lack of it.
I want to know what’s happening with her job as a necromancer ? How is she maintaining her non-were creature relationships ? What happened to all the things that made Anita human and relatable ? The balance between supernatural Anita and human Anita was completely off. All in all it was a great read. I can’t wait to read the next book and see where it takes Anita.

Really good story

I love this story. I read it several times. This is the first time listening to the audio of it. The narrator was really good. She gave every character their own voice. It was not done like other books where they simply read the story she put heart into it. I have started the next book and this narrator is not the one doing the next few stories and the narrator is not nearly as good. I hate to say it but it is true. Kimberly Alexis has the voice for Anita Blake and she is damn good at her job.
