Old School Anita

loved it! this one brought back the crime solving aspect to the story rather than too much erotic metaphysical drama.

I can't wait for the next one, loved it!

I wonder what will happen to Olaf... still loving the Ms. attitude handling all the feels of multiple relationships, as well as prejudice/ bias on the job.

Laurel has gone back to way she used to write at the begining. she was . a preteenatural expert and excitunor. I love our dynamic is working between her and Edward and otto

Great murder story with very enjoyable content!

This book kept me on my feet. The evolution of Anita's relationship with her fellows marshals surprised me in a way that made me conflicted but excited at the same time. I can't wait for the next book and the next part of the story. The murder mystery was great and fulfilling.

Enjoyed the story

This was different. I am not sure how I feel about all the PC crap that was happening in this book. Was it indicative of what the author sees happening in society, or sincerely crap that Anita is really having to deal with. Maybe a combination of both. But, as you can see, being politically correct isn't my thing. But whatever. Anita is making it work for her in her usual sarcastic way. As for the 'monster of the book' - again, is this the author's way of commenting on what is happening in the world? If so, I have to agree with her. It sucks, but I love how authors can make an entertaining story of out things, and end up thumbing one's nose at it. Exactly why we needed three of the four horsemen on this case . . . Well we did need an excuse to dance around the whole Olaf/Otto issue. Some fascinating dancing going on there. Overall, I enjoyed the story. I always love spending time with Anita. Even when she is all angsty (one of the few characters I don't mind being angsty.) and trying to deal with issues and hang ups. I especially appreciated Anita talking about being in therapy. Good for her. She is working her issues. I like that. Kimberly Alexis did an amazing job of narration. She know Anita and does a decent job giving everyone else a voice too.

Questions abound

As always I love how intriguing Laurell creates Anita’s story. As I will never be a spoiler, I can only say I can’t wait for the next book because this one definitely leaves you looking for answers. ❤️

Fantastic story

couldn't stop listening. the pitch changes for the men was a good idea. However trying to give them accent's may have been a bit to ambitious. Its so nice to have it in an audio book because with a 3 and 5 year old trying to read a book is a bit much.

Don't quit now!

I loved this book!!!! The story is like one of the older ones before the books turned into pure erotica with a smidge of mystery thrown in. The story line was good. The mystery was good. There were a few parts that made me roll my eyes about Anita. (Non-spoiler example). Anita was on the phone and when she hung up Olaf already knew where they had to go. She seemed surprised that he had heard the conversation and she asked, "How". As if she doesn't already know that lycanthropes have superior hearing. That made me roll my eyes. There were a few parts like that were she asked a question that she should obviously know the answer to because she dates shapeshifters and hunts them.
There was one scene that was "Sexy" but no sex. I was happy that this book was investigative and action rather than sex, sex ,sex, melodrama, metaphysical emergencies with more sex, whining and therapy. If you were getting ready to quit the series, read this before you do. Give it one more shot!

Satisfying

I like all the Anita Blake books for one reason or another, and this one was just as satisfying as the rest. The lack of sex, but with the tension, was interesting in itself. And the storyline moving Olaf to a different place in he and Anita’s life made for good reading. As always, looking forward to the next book.

As always Laurell K Hamilton kill it with the new book. I highly recommend the book! It had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I cannot wait for the next book 🙌
