Resumen del Editor

In this audiobook in the number one New York Times best-selling series, vampire hunter Anita Blake learns what it's like to be at the new end of a centuries-old bloodline - and just how far she’ll let herself get pushed around.

Once a sworn enemy of all monsters, Anita is now the human consort of both Jean-Claude, the master vampire, and Micah, the leopard shape-shifter. Not quite as human as she once was, she is consumed by both their hungers - desires that must be sated time and time again.

When a centuries-old vampire targets Jean-Claude and his clan, Anita finds herself tested as never before - needing all the dark forces her passion can muster to save the ones she loves the most....

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Hamilton remains one of the most inventive and exciting writers in the paranormal field.” (Number one New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris)

“If you’ve never read this series, I highly recommend/strongly suggest having the Anita Blake experience. Vampires, zombies, and shifters, oh my! And trust me, these are not your daughter’s vampires.” (Literati Book Reviews)

“Number one New York Times best seller Hamilton is still thrilling fans...with her amazing multifaceted characters and intricate multilayered world, a mix of erotic romance, crime drama, and paranormal/fantasy fiction. Her descriptive prose is gritty and raw, with a mosaic of humor and horror to tell this complex, well-detailed story. But it’s her enigmatic stable of stars that continues to shine, managing their improbable interpersonal relationship dynamics." (Library Journal)

Pronunciation

Overall I enjoyed the book but she pronounces words wrong. Like instead of werewolf she says we're wolf.

I Do not like the Narrator!

The book loses a lot with this Narrator. She does not speak French very well or say the shape shifter terms very well. She doesn’t do the voices of others very well and sounds like a teenager. I love Laurell and her books but this book doesn’t keep my attention because this Narrator is nothing like the one who did the first 10 books.

mostly ok

My biggest issue was with the narrator. She seemed to have an inability to pronounce words and it was just enough to be irritating. As always, I love LKH books...no issue there!

Not Alexis, but gotta give credit due

I’m very, very happy that all the Anita Blake audiobooks are finally available at the same time, for the first time ever.

And Ok, the narration was better than I thought it would be. I’m a huge fan of Kimberly Alexis’ narration of this series. I believe it’s important to get and keep a single good narrator for a series that has a single main character like Anita Blake. But I have to give credit to Holloway for a darn good job with character differentiation and emotion. It was good enough that she “disappeared” into the book, and the story took center stage.

My favorite part of this book was Jason’s conversation with Anita about the men in her life.
My favorite lines were:
(1) If you throw the furry through a windshield do they still not bleed? (2) Tonight was like small-talk, combat style.
Recommend.

bad accents ruin the story

This was one of my favorite books in the series but Cynthia doesn't do french accents... I don't know what accent she was doing, but it wasn't french. It is super distracting. It sucks because she's fine as Anita. My only other grip is the director. She could have helped with this... oh well.

Story is awesome. Narrator is so-so

I am a fan of the Anita Blake series. I have all the hardcover books and have read each multiple times. I recently started building my audible collection of the books. The narration of books 1-10 was really good. I did not enjoy all the special effects but they did not detract much from the enjoyment of listening. The narationin this book (#11) however, was not great. The narrator did not know the correct pronunciation of the French words and even some English words. Worse, she did not know how to pronounce "were" in werewolf, wereleopard, etc. It came out as "wier". They have not done all the books for Audible yet. I hope they go back to the narrator of the first 10 books.

Love the book hate narration

To say the least, I really missed Kimberly Alexis! This narrator was terrible. I’ve read the book before and I would have been better off reading it again there was points that I had no clue if there was different people talking or if it was just Anita thinking. It was terrible no fault of the author or the book just poorly narrated.

Disappointed with the reader. Word pronunciation is that of someone who didn’t take an English class

I’m a big fan off Anita Blake and this is the first time I’ve reviewed one of the books as unsatisfactory. The reader is awful. I was unable to follow the character changes due to her poor delivery of accents. She pronounces werewolf as “weirwolf “, pittance as “piddince “, drowning as “drowning”, sentence as “sennance”, and isn’t consistent with pronouncing the long E in “the” before a word in which begins with a vowel. The reader uses too much breath and she sounds too languid for Anita’s character, almost a slur like someone who’s been drinking. Laurel Hamilton’s writing is impeccable so the delivery of this story is the problem. I am glad that the next book is read by Kimberly Alexis who does the different voices, correct pronunciation, and conveys the “bad-sadness” that Anita deserves.
