Publisher's Summary

Summer Mahoney is in a good place. Married to a man she loves, and on a road trip with her daughter, her tragic earlier life seems far away, at least until a flat tire changes everything. One moment her life is perfect, and the next moment she is sitting alone in a dark, underground prison. What happened? But her waking nightmare gets much worse when Summer finds she is only collateral damage. Her captor is a man obsessed with not with her, but her 12-year-old daughter.

What will a mother do to protect her child? When the madman sets high stakes, can Summer manage to play his dangerous game? A game that goes against her every fiber? Summer is a fighter, so can she act submissive and obedient, when all her instincts scream to fight?

Can Summer survive the odds and protect her daughter? Can she make it through imprisonment, then find her daughter, who is on a treacherous escape through mountainous terrain while being tracked by an enraged bear?

"awful to listen to this book"

the story was okay, totally predictable. would not have minded, it's the reading of the book wasn't awful. Completely monotone, no emotion whatsoever , couldn't even tell which character was talking . only reason finished this book was because we are reading it for a book club.
