Publisher's summary

In L.A., Cassie Black is another beautiful woman in a Porsche: except Cassie just did six years in prison and still has "outlaw juice" flowing in her veins. Now Cassie is returning to her old profession, taking down a money man in Vegas. But the perfect heist goes very wrong, and suddenly Cassie is on the run - with a near-psychotic Vegas "fixer" killing everyone who knew about the job.

Between Cassie and the man hunting her are a few last secrets: like who really set up the job, why Cassie had to take the chance, and how, in the end, it might all be a matter of the moon....

A great read

If you should be tired of reading stuff about Michael Connelly's favorite detective Harry Bosch, this is a book for you. This is abook about unexpected hero Cassie Black and her counterpart the grim Jack Karch. Both are criminals (at least ex-ditto) and both arouse sympathy (at least to a certain extent) in the reader. It's suspense all the way, and impossible to stop listening to. I would like to see a movie made out if this book. Hats off once more to Michael Connelly.

Good - but not his best

I am a Michael Connelly fan and while I found this book an easy read like most of his writing, the storyline just did not grab me as much as some of his other works.

The plot involves a woman who gets out of jail for a "cat burglary" in which the love of her life died - and she decides to do one last job so she can start a new life with... (I will leave that plot line for you to find)

The narration was great - clear and characters were distinctive - but the story was just not as good as a normal Connelly that keeps me wanting to come back to finish the book. For some reason, I just did not connect with the characters in the way I have done with other books. The technical details of surveillance equipment was plausible but there were a couple of areas of the plot where it stretched the imagination a little... and it did not flow and just did not ring true.

I gave it four stars (just) because it is still a good read and will not really disappoint Connelly fans.

Totally Worth It!

i love this book. This was actually my second time listening to this book, the first time was on CD from my library. It was bizzare that a story told from primarily a woman's point of view was read by a man, but it didn't detract from the story.

Almost impossible to put down

What made the experience of listening to Void Moon the most enjoyable?

The story line. It was imaginative and very captivating, I could not put this book down. I felt like it was one of the most suspenseful books by Michael Connelly, even more than most of his Bosch books. I also really liked his character development.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cassie Black - she was full of flaws but a very interesting and strong person - and very soon after "meeting" her did I want things to go her way.

Which scene was your favorite?

The whole book. I would love to read a few more books about her - and find out for instance what she was doing and what adventure she was having when Bosch meets her in "The Narrows".

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes - but I don't want to say because it would spoil the read/listen.

Any additional comments?

I did not like the voice of the narrator at all. Even though he had good timing and read the story well, the sound of his voice really bothered me and this is the reason I did not give the performance of the book 5 stars.

Bad People Doing Bad Things To Other Bad People

Well written, like all Connelly books, but no heroes emerge. All characters get what they deserve.

Great read

The story was extremely entertaining and addictive after a fairly slow start. But in hindsight it was necessary to set the stage. The twist and unexpected turns in the plot were quite brilliant.

One of Connelly's Best!

This is one of his best (if not best) standalone books by this author. I enjoyed every single page. It was suspenseful, stimulating, exciting, and clever. The narrator for the Audible version is flawless!

Not his best

Michael Connelly's characters are all compelling. I prefer the Harry Bosch series and offshoots. This Kind of bittersweet and sad story didn't seem as good as he usually is. .

Michael Connelly never misses!

I've listened to all of the Harry Bosch novels, and several other Michael Connelly novels, and he never seems to have a bad story! Coming from a Harry Bosch perspective, I was prepared to not enjoy this story. But I found myself captured almost immediately. The characters are well drawn, the plot is interesting and well paced, and the narration is top notch. I'd love to see a sequel to this book. I'd love to know what happens next!
