Publisher's Summary

He is an expert with the latest technology...a madman with the mind of a genius and the heart of a killer. He quietly stalks his prey. Then he haunts the police with cryptic riddles about the crimes he is about to commit - always solved moments too late to save the victims' lives.

Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the first victim butchered in his own home. The second lost his life in a vacant luxury apartment. The two men had little in common. Both suffered unspeakable torture before their deaths. And both had ties to an ugly secret of 10 years past - a secret shared by none other than Eve's new husband, Roarke.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

    "Great Story Great Narrator"

I am a huge fan of these books and this one did not let me down.
One of my main loves is the Narrator Susan Ericksen. She is the narrator of all of the ones I have listened to so far and some of the Nora Robers too and I just love the way she does it.
I love her voices, the rhythm of her voice and the way she tells the story.
As for the story itself I have listened to a few and read a few of the In Death series now and they are right up my alley.
A great murder mystery set not too far into the future but quite a different future than I envision we will have. Lead detective Eve Dallas is a great character she grows and changes with each installment while her husband Rourke sounds good enough to eat!!!
All the other characters are well likeable and fun too and they bounce around together in these stories so well.
They may not be everyone's cup of tea but I love them.

    "Another Great Plot"

Another suspenseful futuristic story with Lieutenant Eve Dallas. These stories have a wonderful narrative with believeable characters that capture your attention and imagination. Pure entertainment, that keeps you wanting to read the next book.

"Marlena's Death Comes Back to Haunt"

Who has started killing old Irish acquaintances of Roarke & Somerset? Details of Marlena's death are revealed as the victims and their method of death points back to that time. Intro EDD Det. McNab & his fascination with She-Body and Roarke's technology. It's the combo of characters & plotting that makes these books work. Ericksen does a great job with narration.

    "This story was not compelling"
What did you like best about Vengeance in Death? What did you like least?

There is no real police work, investigation, or logic applied to this story line at all. Its too easy and very predictable. When the very smart main and supporting characters the author has built up in the previous books start doing really stupid things to make the story move along, its really no fun to read.

If you’ve listened to books by J. D. Robb before, how does this one compare?

The other books are more compelling and enjoyable.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    She's great.

Did Vengeance in Death inspire you to do anything?

It inspired me to right a mediocre review.

    Any additional comments?

I've already purchased the next two books in this series and I hope they are better than this one.

I love the suspense and mystery of discovering the identity of the individual. Amazed at the pain one person can handle and still go on. I am impressed with the lieutenant.

I am a 59-yr-old woman and an avid reader all my life. I will usually find an author I like, then read everything by them. Love audible!

    "Loved It!"

I've read quite a few of the 'In death' series and have enjoyed them all. Now that I have been using the audible version; I have started at the beginning of the series again. I absolutely love Susan Ericksen as the narrator and feel her accents for each character is marvelous. It would be a huge mistake to ever change narrators in my opinion. Susan Ericksen is the perfect one for this series!

    "I loved every minitue"
    Any additional comments?

I wasn’t sure how I was going to rate this one because for the first time Eve’s integrity wasn’t impeccable. Roarke has affected her world so completely that she is choosing her husband over the law. At the beginning of the series I didn’t think that would ever be possible. But, all characters need to grow and develop and I like that Eve has developed this relationship with Roarke. This series wouldn’t be what it is without it.

Eve was put through her paces this go round trying to catch a killer at the same time protecting Roarke. It was a bit hypocritical yet justice isn’t always served the way it should be.

Vengeance is the first novel in the series that I did not know or guess who the bad guy was. I had no clue and I loved that. It is so much better when I don’t know. So even though I didn’t like that Eve’s integrity was compromised I still loved every minute of the book. Only 39 more to go….I think………Sara
