Publisher's Summary

Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.

Together, Bosch and Haller set off on a case fraught with political and personal danger. Opposing them is Jessup, now out on bail, a defense attorney who excels at manipulating the media, and a runaway eyewitness reluctant to testify after so many years.

With the odds and the evidence against them, Bosch and Haller must nail a sadistic killer once and for all. If Bosch is sure of anything, it is that Jason Jessup plans to kill again.

Impressed? Ace detective Harry Bosch is also on the case in other exciting Michael Connelly crime-fiction novels.

    "This Was Great"

I'm not smart enough to be able to follow such plots. So many moving parts; so little time. The cross over was interesting.

    "Great reader!"

Peter Giles is a fantastic reader! He really made all the characters come alive! I will look for other books read by him.

"captivating enough to stand a PeterGiles narration"

Loved the dream team, not sure how I feel about the ending though. As for the narrator, thank God Connelly is a great writer, Peter Giles somehow manages to get the Lincoln lawyer sounding whiny, Maggie sounds like a scared teenage girl, and Bosch sounds incompetent.

    "Like comfortable shoes"

Good but disposable read. Well written, comfortable characters but it sort of feels like something you see on CBS by the end. If you like the first two Hollers this one will do just fine.

    "Exceeded expectations"

I've listened to a few Lincoln Lawyer books and this was the best yet. I loved that it featured Bosch too, as well as Maggie McFierce. I really like this narrator, he doesn't try to put on silly voices but you always know who's speaking. And the story was great... suspenseful and a surprising twist at the end. Definitely my favorite Lincoln Lawyer.

    "Bad Narration"

Story was great, but the narrator was awful. His attempts at foreign accents hurt my ears. I'm very familiar with Caribbean accents having been married to a Jamaican and the attempts by this narrator was worse than a joke. It was demeaning. As for the British accent, it sounded like someone training to imitate someone with a very bad British accent. As for the other characters it was difficult to figure out who was talking cause they all sounded the same, except for the female characters. As for Bosch, his dialog was flat and unemotional or angry and all riled up. There was no in between. It was robotic, hitting an angry button now and then.

The narration almost ruined the story for me.
