Publisher's Summary

Roger Ackroyd knew too much. He knew that the woman he loved had poisoned her brutal first husband. He suspected also that someone had been blackmailing her. Now, tragically, came the news that she had taken her own life with a drug overdose.

But the evening post brought Roger one last fatal scrap of information. Unfortunately, before he could finish the letter, he was stabbed to death¿

Brilliant twist..... brilliantly read!

This book is a classic! Would recommend to most readers, students to mystery addicts.
Classic Hercule Poirot -Agatha Christie's best.

Very well read, Hugh Fraser does a great job in impersonating voices.... that too fast paced and extremely interleaved.

one of A.C.'s best

Better than listening to an Agatha Christie mystery is listening to it narrated by Hugh Fraser or David Suchet. I wish ALL the collection was narrated by either of them. Hugh Fraser's voice is one of the most comforting things ever, maybe because I grew up with the Poirot TV series, where he plays Captain Hastings.

I know all of Agatha Christie's books, I remember most of the solutions, but I simply can't find other murder-mysteries so captivating and elegantly written. This is one of my favourites. I remembered who the murderer was, but I wanted to listen to it anyway. Loved it!

The ending will have your mouth wide open.

This is the first and only book written Agatha Christie that I've ever read.

Go ahead and read it. It is very much worth the hype.

Loved It

I didn't know this book before I listed to it and it was a pure delight. The plot was excellent but since we are talking Agatha Christie that is no surprise. The reader, Hugh Fraser, was superb and carefully defined each character well so you always knew who was speaking. The books pace was perfect and left me wanting more. Terrific stuff!

A classic whodunit !

Hugh Fraser does an excellent narration of this Agatha Christie story. If you don't know the story, it really is an example of a mystery that will keep you guessing until the end and even if you do know the ending - it is great fun to spot the clues that Christie puts along the way.

Brilliant

This is a superbly plotted story with a brilliant twist which was spoiled by some up herself arty bitch on a BBC radio celebration program marking the authors 125 the birthday. Thanks BBC! despite this I enjoyed it immensely.

A classic cluedo style romp

Set within the estate of a wealthy family close to a small village, we have the makings of a classic cluedo style Agatha Christie mystery. With Meetings in the billard room, clues in the study and a cast of characters each with their own little secrets that all come together to enable the detective to solve the identity of the murderer of Roger Ackroyd. Great stuff!!!

What a twist

The butler did it...
I'm only joking, but seriously, the true culprit caught me off guard. This book was written and performed so well I did not see it coming until very near the end. Christie was a genius!

Entertaining story & narration

Really enjoyed this. I knew about the twist at the end, but was interested to see how it would be revealed. Hugh Fraser's narration was a delight (Capt Hastings does Poirot!) & he brought out the humour in the writing, especially with the game of Mahjong, but also the menace of the murderer.

Probably the best ending I've ever read :)

Great read! It made me feel uneasy by the end, and I have certainly never expected this closure!
