Publisher's Summary

Brad Meltzer - author of the number-one New York Times best seller The Book of Fate - returns with his most thrilling and emotionally powerful novel to date.

In Chapter Four of the Bible, Cain kills Abel. It is the world's most famous murder. But the Bible is silent about one key detail: the weapon Cain used to kill his brother. That weapon is still lost to history.

In 1932, Mitchell Siegel was killed by three gunshots to his chest. While mourning, his son dreamed of a bulletproof man and created the world's greatest hero: Superman. And like Cain's murder weapon, the gun used in this unsolved murder has never been found.

Until now.

Today in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Cal Harper comes face-to-face with his family's greatest secret: his long-lost father, who's been shot with a gun that traces back to Mitchell Siegel's 1932 murder. But before Cal can ask a single question, he and his father are attacked by a ruthless killer tattooed with the anicent markings of Cain. And so begins the chase for the world's first murder weapon.

What does Cain, history's greatest villain, have to do with Superman, the world's greatest hero? And what do two murders, committed thousands of years apart, have in common? This is the mystery at the heart of Brad Meltzer's riveting and utterly intriguing new thriller.

    "brad meltzer always entertains"

I had read this book years ago. bought it on clearance at barnes and noble. this was my first introduction to brad meltzer. the overall story is good, with a solid and interesting plot. there are some slow points but overall its good. bought the audio book since I wanted to "read" it again. the narrator was ok. didn't make me hate the book but didn't add much to it. worth the listen, especially when working.

    "suspenseful"

Brad Meltzer is up there with the best. I thought it was good and kept me guessing. And of course, there's Scott Brick. Can't beat that.

    "Not my favorite Meltzer book"

I love his books but I found this really hard to follow. The plot was a bit convoluted. As always, Scott Brick does s fabulous job narrating but the story was disappointing. That said, the author still stays on my list of favorites.

    "Love a good story?"

I do love a good story, and Meltzer is a wonderful story teller. I didn't discover Meltzer until his more recent forays into the past in Lost History on cable. I'm glad I did. Meltzer's style of combining history & fiction in driving "Who-Done-It" storytelling is both engaging and thought provoking. A great romp!

    "Original and imaginative!"

This book was fabulous in every respect. Scott Brick did a wonderful job of bringing this story to life. While this is a work of fiction, much of the information presented is based in fact. Brad Meltzer definitely researched this topic well! I found myself googling this fact or that fact.....this story was interesting and never dragged.

    Definitely worth the time!
