Publisher's Summary

A breathtaking discovery at the top of the world...
A terrifying collision between modern science and Native American legend . . .
An electrifying new thriller from New York Times best-selling author Lincoln Child.

Two hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle lies Alaska's Federal Wildlife Zone, one of the most remote and inhospitable places on Earth. But for paleoecologist Evan Marshall and a small group of fellow scientists, an expedition to the Zone represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study the effects of global warming.

Everything about the expedition changes, however, with an astonishing find. On a routine exploration of a glacial ice cave, the group discovers an enormous ancient animal, encased in solid ice. The media conglomerate sponsoring their research immediately intervenes and arranges the ultimate spectacle: the creature will be cut from the ice, thawed, and revealed live on television. Despite dire warnings from the local Native American village, and the scientific concerns of Marshall and his team, the "docudrama" plows ahead...until the scientists make one more horrifying discovery. The beast is no regular specimen; it may be an ancient killing machine. And they may be premature in believing it dead.

In this riveting new thriller, Lincoln Child weaves together a stunning Arctic landscape, a terrifying mythic creature, and a pervasive mood of chaos and fear. With Terminal Freeze, Child demonstrates why he has become a major best-selling author, and why his novels electrify and enthrall so many.

    "Great narration, meh story"

Love a good monster tail, but this one kinda fell flat. Hooks you in the beginning, but poor plot structure and a lack of focus on any particular protagonist mire the story. The creature was interesting, but who am I supposed to follow here? I thought Jeremy Logan was supposed to be the protagonist, but he is completely passive in the story. Not only is he relegated to observer status, but he is completely forgettable in most scenes he is in, only occasionally participating in conversations. Although he has the last word in the book, he feels like he was tagged onto the story later. As if Child wrote this novel a long time ago, and then inserted Logan into the narrative to build out the Jeremy Logan series of books. A weak entry, at best.

"Jeremy Logan not in the story"

If you are a Jeremy Logan can you can skip thus one. He has no part in the story. I kept waiting for him to do something anything but it never happened

    "good"

very good book in the Logan series, however this is the first Logan book that I have listened where he is not the hero and does not save the day and is as helpless as everybody else comma but another hero emerges

    "What a great ride"

very chilling- see what I did there. I loved the story, couldn't wait to get back to it. It wrapped up nicely. The narrator does an excellent job.

The characters weren't developed enough to really connect to any of them. Too predictable who would die and live.

"Suspense builder but not much else"

The story isn't bad exactly, but it keeps dishing out the suspense of what the creature looks like as a way to keep the reader interested. Scott Brick did a masterful job as always, but I found myself wanting the story to be over just so I could check it off of the list.

"Scott Brick great, book not so great,"

My 2nd Lincoln Child book. Don't think I'll get any more. Not really to my taste. Starts off well and then story goes a bit silly. Scott Brick performs well though.

    "Good read"
Would you consider the audio edition of Terminal Freeze to be better than the print version?

I have not read the printed version. We listen to the books in the car normally on long trips and therefore it can take us a month or 2 to lister to a complete book.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was gripping and interesting with a good twist at the end.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The traveling over the ice lake and the image of the sounds made by the ice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    No.
