Publisher's summary

Critically acclaimed author Susan Meissner's Rachael Flynn mystery series started with the popular Widows and Orphans.

In the second serving of intrigue, Sticks and Stones, lawyer Rachael Flynn receives an unsigned, heart-stopping letter: They're going to find a body at the Prairie Bluff construction site. He deserved what he got, but it wasn't supposed to happen. It was an accident.

When the body is uncovered, Rachael and Detective Will Pendleton discover that the 15-year-old victim, Randall Buckett, had been buried 25 years before. Is the letter writer and the killer the same person? Why would someone speak up now? And why are they telling Rachael?

Susan Meissner's ability to weave a fascinating tale will leave listeners wanting more.

Good murder mystery but develops too slowly

Stick & Stones is a worthwhile murder mystery. The protagonist is a lawyer/prosecutor, but the story is about gumshoe investigative work on an old cold case and it never goes near a courtroom. The novel gets very close to boredom as it drags along. Narration is superb.

My Second Rachel Flynn Mystery Book — Wish There Were 50!

Just like the first Rachel Flynn Mystery book, I thoroughly LOVED this book!

The main circle of characters are well developed — I feel they are my own friends. I LOVE the quirky and FUNNY Fig (short for Figaro).

I also love the empathy the main character, Rachel has for others. Her husband Trace, is every working woman’s DREAM guy! He’s supportive, protective, loving and a 100% hands-one to their infant daughter.

Tavia Gilbert is one of my FAVORITE narrators. She not only has a great voice, but I enjoy the speed and clarity at which she speaks. She is so versatile and able to do so many different characters within the same book. Ms. Gilbert MAKES a book for me!

I enjoyed this book (and the first one in this 3-book series) VERY much. I would recommend this book without hesitation.💕

Couldn’t wait for it to end

I felt it moved very slowly and there were too many characters to keep track of. I recently read my first book by this author, Only The Beautiful, and it was so amazing, so I immediately downloaded another of her books. Vastly different experience. But I will forge ahead with another of her historical fiction books.
