Publisher's Summary

Featuring a conversation with the authors!

In this spectacular father/son collaboration, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: What might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place....

The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain?

Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women's prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously absorbing father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King.

Very good listen

I throughly enjoyed the storyline to the novel. The plot itself I found far from predictable, a nice change of pace and storylines usually are. I thought the character development was fantastic throughout the story and loved the use of asides to show what characters were thinking. My only complaint was that the setting was only ever Appalachia instead of a more exact setting. However the performance was lacking some of the voices were corny to say the least and it would have been nice to have both a female and male reader for the respective genders.

A MUST READ! Esp for man-haters! haha

If there's anyone to write a book so hateful towards men, Stephen King would be my top 3 picks. This book was WONDERFUL! The only thing I wanted to know was what happened to Evie? Did I miss that part while driving? Just have to listen to it again! Haha! Its that good!

Liberal propaganda

Stephen King has become so political his books have become unlistenable. I don’t need King to tell me woman are better then men. Men are evil. We are dangerous woman beaters or that we are the only ones destroy the environment. King speak for yourself. I feel no guilt for being a man. I’m done wasting money on your left wing nonsense. Remember republicans buy books too at least when we aren’t drinking beer shooting guns and destroying the environment.

Not the best King work but not bad either.

somewhere on the low middle end of King novels, but not bad. the ending is obvious, and the twists and turns are not so twisty.

Thought provoking

The story was interesting, although wordy in some spots. At times my mind wandered. I feel Sleeping Beauties is a worthwhile listen. It was captivating. I ended up wondering what I would choose. I believe I would make the same decision as the women in Sleeping Beauties. Perhaps a plague of Aurora would benefit today's society. Certainly, it is worth thinking about.

I've read or listened to around 4 of Stephen King's books before this one. I was quite pleased with this one!! It wasn't as scary as I was used to but I did have a dream about it!! FANTASTIC BOOK!!!

Had to quit before I could finish....so tired of political statements!

I was listening to and enjoying this book but after the 3rd time I heard the author use the book to slam our president, I closed the book. I just wanted to read a book, not hear the Kings liberal slams. Sorry, not impressed. I’m disappointed, I won’t read another book by either of these 2 men.

5 stars until the end, then 4.5

Wonderful collaboration. I have always preferred Steven King's and other son Joe Hill's writings over Owen King's, but this made me rethink. Loved it.
