Publisher's Summary

Featuring a conversation with the authors!

In this spectacular father/son collaboration, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: What might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place....

The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain?

Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women's prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously absorbing father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King.

    "one of the dumbest."

ok ok, men are bad. woman good. Stephen king has to be nuts to be such a talented story teller. I will continue to listen to this fruit loop even though his twisted politics are now seeping into his story telling. Just need to appreciate that genius is frought with madness!

"Not the Usual King, But Buy and Enjoy Anyway!"

Good story, but maybe part of the process of giving the story back and forth between father and son lost something. The story just didn't hold together with the usual flow. And while the senior King has often been criticized for failing to end an otherwise enjoyable story, this one just sorta . . . runs out. It's a great read, passes the time well, but it's not Mr. Mercedes . . .

    Story
    "Longtime fan hating this book."

An extremely brief synopsis of the novel...men are bad, Caucasian men are worse, and may God help you if you fall into both categories.
Further, women are infallible, police officers kill people of color without reason, and the people of Appalachia are ignorant without exception.
It was the reading equivalent of sitting through an eighteen hour ANTIFA speech. But as an avid fan I will undoubtedly buy his next work despite my own objections...but perhaps, not the one after that.

    "Sleeping Beauties, a real sleeper!"

It started out great. The idea was awesome and could have been so much more. The anti-gun, anti-man cloud got to be to much though especially toward the end. I only finished it because I had so much time vested. It is easy to jump on the band wagon because it sells but that's not what I read books for. If I wanted all that I need only turn on any channel on tv.

    "Not worth the time"

The story is all over the place and goes nowhere. No offense to the narrator, but every character sounds the same. Hard to differentiate who is who.

    "Not a fairy tale"

Accepting the premise was my first hurdle. After that, the tone of the narrator's voice, along with the Twangy, nasal, accent was frustrating. Then, the seemingly endless core lecture that men ruin everything made listening to this story more of a challenge then a pleasure. I did it. Not enjoyable - although good descriptions and images are part of the package. I really wanted to be enthralled- but settled for engaged.

    "Confusing"

Too many characters. Jumping from one set of people to another every chapter was very confusing and hard to figure out who was who. The story was good and interesting
