Publisher's Summary

Featuring a conversation with the authors!

In this spectacular father/son collaboration, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: What might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place....

The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain?

Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women's prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously absorbing father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King.

I loved "Sleeping Beauties". Marin Ireland did a terrific job narrating. I would recommend it.

"Not Worthy Of One King, Much-less Two"

While the premise of the story sounded interesting, it quickly turned incredibly mediocre. And that may be generous, given what a Stephen King fan I am.

There isn’t a single character in this jumbled mess that I could relate to. I fall to sleep listening to my books, settling a bookmark and a timer. When I wake up I go back to the last thing I remember. Honestly, this was so poorly written that I actually believed the timer on my Audible app was failing. I don’t know if there were too many chefs in this kitchen with both father and son writing it, but whoever spent the most time in the kitchen needs more lessons.

    "Family Collaboration Masterpiece"

I was a bit tentative prior to reading due to my being unfamiliar with Owen King's writing. However, I loved it! Father or son, it was impossible to tell what was written by whom. The narration was excellent. She sounded as if she were raised in Appalachia. The recording is 25 hours long and went by much too quickly for me. I hope Messrs. King write together again, soon.

    "I didn't love it"

The book is well written of course but I didn't like the story very much. It is my least favorite of all of Stephen Kings works that I have read (I've been working through all of his audio books for the past 4 years) I also could have done without the jabs at President Trump. The narrator was great . The book just didn't have the creep factor that King books usually have.

    "Very good listen"

I throughly enjoyed the storyline to the novel. The plot itself I found far from predictable, a nice change of pace and storylines usually are. I thought the character development was fantastic throughout the story and loved the use of asides to show what characters were thinking. My only complaint was that the setting was only ever Appalachia instead of a more exact setting. However the performance was lacking some of the voices were corny to say the least and it would have been nice to have both a female and male reader for the respective genders.
