I love this series

Charming. intelligent, beautifully read. Matthew Scutter is a modern day, poetic Dashiell Hammett. The reader is perfectly matched to the text.

Great writing and narration

Lawrence Block is a wonderful narrator of his own work, and this short story proves to be yet another great listen. It involves the characters from Block’s long running Matthew Scudder series, and if you aren’t familiar, you will still be able to enjoy and will likely want more. The writing is great, telling of old friends as they shut the door on an era of life as a neighbourhood bar closes. Simple, emotional, and effective.
