Publisher's Summary

To kick off a winter writing retreat, Cat and her handyman boyfriend, Seth, escort the aspiring authors to a nearby ski resort, hoping that some fresh cold air will wake up their creative muses. But instead of hitting the slopes, they hit the bar - and before long, a tipsy romance novelist named Christina is keeping herself warm with a local ski bum who might have neglected to tell her about his upcoming wedding.

Next thing Cat knows, her uncle, the town sheriff, informs her that the young man's been found dead in a hot tub - and Christina shows up crying and covered in blood. Now, between a murder mystery, the theft of a rare Hemingway edition, and the arrival of a black-clad stranger in snowy Aspen Hills, Cat's afraid everything's going downhill....

    "Decent cozy mystery"

This is an enjoyable cozy mystery. I find the continuation of the intrigue surrounding surrounding the Cat's dead ex-husband from the first book adds an additional layer of interest to this series. Sometimes Cat is a bit of a wet blanket about her own retreat, but otherwise I like the cast of central characters. Light and easy to read.

"Every book is making it more interesting!"

I love cozy mysteries and this one is shaping up nicely. Cat is the owner of a Writers Resort in a college town found in Colorado. The secrets surrounding this small college town are slowly rising to the surface after one murder in Cat's home (bk1) and now an almost kidnapping (bk2). And we are coming closer to the answers of the questions dealing with her x-husband's death.
An enjoyable listen, and I'm looking forward to book 3

    "I'm done"

I wasn't able to finish this book. The characters seem unrealistic and flat. Cat herself seems unhappy and disingenuous. The idea of a college being a haven for offspring of the mafia is just stupid. I won't be getting the next book in this series. C.S.E. Cooney is no help as narrator. She's not one of my favorites.

    "Still enjoying this series"

I'm still enjoying this series. I was hoping the first in the series wasn't "beginners luck." The characters are well rounded and are constantly growing. I hope the next in the series comes quickly as I'm already wondering what trouble Cat can get herself into.

    "fun mystery"

I like the characters in this series. I think Lynn still needs to master how to keep the mystery a mystery, but I at least had the murderer wrong until much closer to the end, even if I knew who the stalker was and who the thief was early on. The narrator still needs work... I've not read aloud but to myself and could probably do a better job. She doesn't seem to get sarcasm and still sounds robotic. That said, she sounds better than she did in the first book of the series. I've got a couple other thoughts of what will happen, so I want to see how far off I am.
