Publisher's summary

“Like a breath of fresh air blowing across all crime-novel conventions, there is Dexter.” —Time

Dexter Morgan is not your average serial killer. He enjoys his day job as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department . . . but he lives for his nighttime hobby of hunting other killers. Dexter is therefore not pleased to discover that someone is shadowing him, observing him, and copying his methods. Dexter is not one to tolerate displeasure . . . in fact, he has a knack for extricating himself from trouble in his own pleasurable way.

Like the previous five best-selling novels in the Dexter series, Double Dexter showcases the witty, macabre originality that has propelled Jeff Lindsay to international success. Double Dexter is raucously entertaining . . . full of smart suspense and dark laughs.

Not the best Dexter

I love Dexter, both the books and the show. Like the show, this book seems to be running out of inventiveness. Like the show, it is still entertaining. I guess it depends on how careful you are about where you spend your credits. I will still rent the next one because it is still a
"fun" listen -- but if you are expecting the unexpected, you will be disappointed.

Fun with Dexter

Double Dexter is an enjoyable book to listen to and it's nice that it's read by the author. If you're coming from the show as I did, some major characters' "situations" are quite different. This threw me off a bit but I got used to it. The story is pretty good but not great. The characters are really what makes the book. The ending could have used more detail (I have to be vague to avoid spoilers). All-in-all I look forward to listening to more Dexter books.

Won't get the next one unless Nick Landrum reads

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I adore mr. lindsay for writing the dexter books... but lets leave the reading to nick landrum. may not have been so bad had he been reading them from the get-go, but nick landrum did such a great job that it's hard to listen to mr. lindsay.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jeff Lindsay’s performances?

no.

No more authors who read their own work

Would you listen to Double Dexter again? Why?

I cannot tolerate Jeff Lindsay's narration. His characters are amazing and I have loved all of his books, but I can never buy another book narrated by him. His writing is wonderful and his story lines are always fresh. I just find it disturbing the way he interprets his own characters.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jeff Lindsay?

I love Nick Landrum. He has the characters down pat. His children's voices are the best. His interpretation of Rita is killer.( oops!)

Any additional comments?

Please, bring Nick back into our lives as Dexter. This is one of my favorite all time book series. I love Dexter.

Wonderful.

Dexter is an interesting fellow, eh? Always fun to read, despite his predilections. Very entertaining.

My favorite so far

I really, really enjoyed Dexter's sarcastic humor. This book was loaded. It wasn't a perfect storyline but I enjoyed it greatly.

Best Dexter so far

In my opinion this is the best Dexter novel so far. The storyline great and paced well. It was unique from the other novels to keep you interested yet familiar enough that made it very easy to listen and follow.

Jeff Lindsay narrated and it was excellent. He really did a good job with all the characters.

Overall if you liked the other Dexter novels, or perhaps you use to like the older Dexter novels until he digressed with the last couple - this one is excellent and has the same feeling that the first couple novels had.
