Publisher's Summary

When a young woman is found dead in a field, dressed up as a scarecrow with a slashed grin and a broken neck, the residents of Salem, Massachusetts, begin to fear that the infamous Harvest Man is more than just a rumor. But out-of-town cop Jeremy Flynn doesn't have time for ghost stories. He's in town on another investigation, looking for a friend's wife, who mysteriously vanished in a cemetery.

Complicating his efforts is local occult expert Rowenna Cavanaugh, who launches her own investigation, convinced that a horror from the past has crept into the present and is seducing women to their deaths. Jeremy uses logic and solid police work. Rowenna depends on intuition. But they both have the same goal: to stop the abductions and locate the missing women before Rowenna herself falls prey to the Harvest Man's dark seduction.

Great book

Another amazing story in the Flynn trilogy. Kept me entertained and I didn't feel bored at all. The narration by Phil Gigante was also amazing. He puts life into the characters and makes the story much more interesting.

Exceptional!

I enjoyed the suspense and for the first time I couldn't determine who did it. Great Job! Both the author and narrator!

Great read!

I am not a fan of Romance novels. I find them too shallow. But I do enjoy when romance is woven into a more complex story. The villains weren't a surprise to me but I had fun as clues were revealed to support my guess! The narrator did a good job, considering the number of characters, especially the number of female characters.

Great narration, but completely implausible story

As usual, excellent job by Mr. Gigante.

The story got two stars, since I actually finished it. But....so very many details were wrong. Corn is harvested LONG before November in Massachusetts. Salem is not a small town; I'm pretty sure the nearest cornfields are 50 miles away, not 5. Fall foliage in New England is early to mid-October, not November. No one comes from Boston to look at leaves in Salem! First, it's not that far away; second, there aren't a ton of trees in Salem. People go to New Hampshire, or western mass, or Maine.

Brad and Eve are the world's most annoying characters.

Without all those distractions, decent story, with a nice twist at the end. I had trouble getting past the distractions, tho.

Perfect for Halloween

Enthralling from the first page. Characters well developed. More twists and turns than expected. Don't miss this one.

A great Story!

Lovely mystery filled with interesting characters and detailed local intrigue. Narrator did a good job with the male characters but struggled with the women...overall he did a good job - carried the story well. Easy listening. Author wrote a great thriller. Recommend it highly

Trite ending

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The ending. I really enjoyed the book right up until the ending. Too much of a "and they lived happily ever after" ending.

Was Deadly Harvest worth the listening time?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

The male narrator's attempt at Rowenna's voice distracted me from the story at times.
