Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Midnight, Texas. It's a quiet little town, perched at the junction between Davy Road and Witch Light Road, and it's easy to miss. With its boarded-up windows, single traffic light, and sleepy air, there's nothing special about Midnight...which is exactly how the residents like it.

So when the news comes that a new owner plans to renovate the run-down, abandoned old hotel in town, it's not met with pleasure. Who would want to come to Midnight, with its handful of shops, the Home Cookin diner, and quiet residents - and why? But there are bigger problems in the air.

When Manfred Bernado, the newest resident in town, is swept up in a deadly investigation, suddenly the hotel and its residents are the least of the town's concern. The police, lawyers, and journalists are all headed to Midnight, and it's the worst possible moment....

More entertainment

Book 2 of the series, provides more entertainment from the residents of Midnight.

We're getting to know the characters a little better, and a few more secrets are revealed, although there is certainly more to come...... Also, a couple of familiar faces from Bon Temps pop in.

Mr Snuggly might just be stealing the show for me - the narration, plus his attitude, always makes me grin in those scenes (perhaps I'm just easily entertained!?).

I hope the series continues with this pace and humour. Although it is somewhat predictable (especially if you've read the True Blood series), it's still good, fun stuff, and a nice dose of light-hearted entertainment is exactly what I was in the mood for.

(nb- this is one of those series which although you could get away with joining midway through, you'd be far better off starting at the beginning to get the most out of it)

Roll on book 3!

Disappointing

This book was odd. Loads happened, yet nothing really happened at all, and there were far too many loose-ends for me. It felt like the story should have continued in order to wrap a few of these things up, or at least explain them. To me it just felt like this whole book was solely about setting up the next one. As such it left me rather disappointed, and a little annoyed.

The narrator was good. I particularly like the way she portrays Mr Snuggly.

Another world is emerging

An outstanding 2nd instalment from the town of Midnight Texas.. The writing is so good you can feel the story as it unfolds. The narrative is good as always with the twists constantly coming you always left wanting more..

The downside to this book is that now I've finished the long wait for book 3 begins..

Perfect audiobook material...

I thoroughly enjoyed book 2... Well read & well written! Has pace, humour and a great cast of characters. Not overly complex, but gripping nonetheless... Perfect audiobook material! Just wish there were more books like it!

Good fun

Good but left a few things unanswered. Reader was good and kept you engaged the whole way through. Worth a read.

Becoming my favourite Harris series.

Another excellent story from Midnight. Satisfying in itself but plenty of things to pick up in the next one. Can't wait.

Best so far

The second in this series and the best yet. Great characters and good to see some characters from the Sookie books turn up. Excellently read and well written. I can't wait for part 3.

Can't get enough of this universe

I absolutely love the world that Charlaine Harris has created in the small town of midnight. Was devastated every time I had to stop listening when I got to work. An already charming book that was elevated by Susan Bennett's performance!

Cats don't speak with a lisp

Really enjoying this new series. But cats purr or growl words not lisp. Some of the laughter is coming through like in the Skokie Stackhouse series.

Midnight 2

Another brilliant tale and adventure of the fascinating world of the Midnight residents. My only criticism is that you must read Midnight Texas One to be able to follow the characters properly. Loved every line.

Awful narration - can't finish the book!

What disappointed you about Day Shift?

I simply can't comment on the story in any way as the dreadful narration prevented me from getting into the book.

What didn’t you like about Susan Bennett’s performance?

Annoying, with really bad accents.

After the long wait I was not disappointed!!!

I am a huge fan of Charlaine Harris, I have read all her series including Sookie Stackhouse, the Shakespere series and the Grave series. In the The Midnight series Charlaine brings all the memorable characters from these series and sets them up with a few new characters and makes them neighbors. In the first book "Midnight Crossroads" we are introduced to new characters and reunited with old, in this prequel we gain more insight to the lives that have lead them to live in this small town where every one has a secret and nothing is ever quite what it seems. Combining paranormal and crime, this book tells an intriguing and entertaining story that leaves you waiting breathlessly for the next one in the serie
