Dieses Mal findet die Veranstaltung allerdings durch einen schrecklichen Unfall ein jähes Ende. Und plötzlich steht die Frage im Raum, ob hier nicht tatsächlich ein Geist umgeht! Jack und Sarah sind überzeugt, dass der Schuldige ein Mensch aus Fleisch und Blut sein muss - doch wer will dem Hotel schaden?
Schon bald müssen auch die beiden sich ihrem Aberglauben stellen, denn sie finden Spuren, die zu einem unaufgeklärten viktorianischen Mord führen...
Ein rätselhafter Einbruch:
Claire und Terry Goodman scheinen alles zu haben: eine erfolgreiche Firma, einen Sohn in Oxford, ein neues Anwesen direkt an der Themse und offenbar reichlich Geld.
Als Jack und Sarah jedoch gebeten werden, in einem seltsamen Einbruch in ihrer Villa zu ermitteln, treten einige Geheimnisse zutage. Und kaum ist die Wahrheit enthüllt, wird sie für jemanden so unerträglich, dass Mord scheinbar der einzige Ausweg ist.

Aufruhr im beschaulichen Cherringham! Das ganze Dorf geht auf die Barrikaden und will verhindern, dass die Zakro Corporation einen riesigen Supermarkt am Stadtrand baut. Doch als der Umweltaktivist und Anführer des Protests, Sam Lewis, bei einem Wildschweinunfall getötet wird, scheint nichts und niemand den Bauunternehmer mehr stoppen zu können.
Plötzlich tauchen Zweifel an dem Unfall auf, und Jack und Sarah haken nach: Hat Sams Tod doch etwas mit seinem Widerstand gegen die Zakro Corporation zu tun?
