The Double K Ranch is just a few minutes from the shores of Lake Michigan, nestled in the rolling woodlands of West Michigan. This majestic, yet rustic resort is a place where singles, couples, and families come to experience hiking trails, fishing, swimming, and a world-class disc golf course. Unbeknownst to guests, the ranch is also home to some challenges the owners are struggling with to keep the ranch afloat.
River was sent to the Double K Ranch to deliver some startling news regarding the mystery money and to learn some truths regarding a message given to him from his grandmother. He ends up bemoaning a lot to a listening Greta, who is not what he expects from her rumored background. He is finding that the news he has, will prove nothing but problematic for the group of people that he is fast coming to adore. When the local rodeo takes place, he decides to take a chance on doing something that scares him, and, in a blinding flash of reality, understands what his grandmother needed him to learn.
Greta is happy and content running the Double K Coffee shop and provides a steady ear for residents and visitors alike. She is thrust right into the middle of the Baker windfall when River arrives at her café. Unfortunately, trouble is on his heels, and the mystery that has been dogging the entire town is about to get blown wide open. Can she make him tough enough to stand against the storm brewing to honor his grandmother's final wish? Will the family he always missed be waiting for him here in Tufton Mills? Or will he end up turning into the very thing he despised the most?
