Great read

Excellent and informative. Very motivational for young voters and young & old immigrants. The author and I have very similar upbringing from immigrant parents coming to this country for better opportunities. BRAVO and continued success from a fellow immigrant from Cambria Heights, Queens!!!

Intriguing Memoir

I have seen Jean-Pierre on television so decided to learn more about her by reading her recently published memoir.

Jean-Pierre was born in Martinique. Her parents were born and raised in Haiti. They immigrated to New York when she was young. She obtained a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University. She had a tough life growing up, but she does not get bogged down in it. The book focuses on hard work and determination to reach her goals in life. I had the feeling the book was written for young people providing advice and encouragement. She encourages young people to seek a career in politics.

The book is ten hours and eight minutes. Karine Jean-Pierre does a good job narrating her own book.

This seems geared towards children.

I wanted to like this. I saw her recently and was impressed. But the sing song nature of her reading was too annoying. It's like she's reading the book to a group of kindergarteners. Also, I hadn't realized this from the description, but it seems the book is geared to teens/young adults to let them know how to get into politics. I still don't think a lot of young adults would appreciate the infantile reading style. I may try reading the book at some point, because I assume she's going to be a part of our national politics in the future.
