Publisher's Summary

Vera Woods is at her wit’s end.

Her husband has run off with the nanny, leaving Vera with a broken heart, three very angry sons, and even less time to juggle the demands of family and her career. After her boys scare away a sixth replacement nanny, Vera is out of time off from work and desperately out of options. Still nursing an aching heart, she turns to an unlikely source for help - a manny.

Lincoln Scott is no stranger to family chaos. But rather than grow jaded, he has thrown his natural talents into building his own business - providing live-in childcare for families as a manny. The money is great and the perks are a blast, but when his family of six years moves to Germany and their plans to bring him along fall through, Lincoln is suddenly unemployed and aware of how much of himself he’s given to other people’s families.

Brought together by circumstances, Lincoln and Vera’s mutually beneficial business arrangement becomes complicated by the undeniable chemistry they share. Vera needs a manny and Lincoln needs a job, but they both may have found the very thing neither one had realized they needed - a whole lot more.

Hot manny with love as a side gig.

Ugh, this book gave me fluttery butterflies. It was sexy and sweet and not ashamed of being real. A great addition to the Misadventures series. It has a lot of the basic HEA stuff, but I loved it all.

Vera was a young mother who married her first and longtime boyfriend only to have her dream shattered after being cheated on numerous times. Her ex gaslit her bad. Built her up, only to bring her down. I think we're so used to seeing mean exes, but not so blatantly mean like Vera's.

Lincoln is a male nanny. A "manny" who has had great families to work with and quite enjoys it as a role model and educator. I loved this aspect of a nanny. I think it's a little common when a story has a male one and I love it every single time, but it sort of makes me wish more nanny tropes focused on the longevity of this kind of career, but I digress,

Linc is friends with Vera's sister's husband and the timing was right and he starts helping out. The oldest of her three kids slowly takes to him. It's written in subtle ways. Not undermining the kids' father at all. It shows how adults can positively be a part of kids' lives, without interfering and how some adults can be outright petty to others even when kids are involved.

Now the love story doesn't happen right away, but when it does... well, this does not disappoint. It does not go smoothly, but not in the way a lot of people would expect.

And Vera does a lot of making up for time lost when she was with her ex.

This is just a great and engaging book for me. Narration was awesome. Brian Pallino was excellent. I need to find more of his work. Stella Bloom is a fave, so getting this audio was a no brainer. Toni Aleo's writing is just so good. I'm just so pleased with this all.

From beginning to end - I LOVED this book.

Almost immediately, this book gave me One Last Time (Corinne Michaels) vibes and since that still remains one of my favorite books of the year, I was all in! I loved Vera and her dedication to her children, I hated her rat bastard of an ex, and Lincoln was so unbelievably swoon worthy. I even adored Vera's sons, her sister, and her brother-in-law/Lincoln's best friend. The chemistry between Vera and Lincoln was incredible and her history with her ex made her such a sympathetic character - it made it really easy to cheer her on. The obstacles to HEA were real and I enjoyed the tension that they provided (though I did feel like they came to a head and were resolved rather swiftly). I also wasn't expecting Misadventures with a Manny to be the slow burn that it was, but when we finally get to the couples first hookup, it was so worth the wait! I've thoroughly enjoyed both of Toni Aleo's contributions to the Misadventures series so far and I fully plan to read her Assassins series soon! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Love after all

Thank you Toni Aleo, I love this book. I was so happy with the outcome. After all the mom went through she certainly deserved a break and a helping hand along with meeting someone who could bring her watch she needed. Excellent book.

Loved it

I Enjoy stories about single parents. And this one I really loved. Lincoln was sweet and caring and all he wanted was a family of his own and he found it with Vera and her boys.
Vera I don't know how I felt about her. I felt sorry for her for what she went through and all her issues with her ex, but then I didn't like how she used Lincoln.

The narrators was spot on for me. And definitely looking at more with these two

Happy - Sad

This made me cry a few times and positively fume at others. The Ex-husband is a real piece of work and the ugliness that is divorce is heart wrenchingly depicted with in these pages. This was well written and preformed my only complaint was the speed. This clipped right along way to fast. I felt the budding romance moved to quickly and was not given enough little building moments. Other than wanting more of a slow build and more details this was a great story.

My Thoughts on Misadventures with a Manny

Misadventures with a Manny is a fantastic read. It's emotional and funny and so well written. I loved Lincoln and Vera. He's completely swoon worthy and she was so strong and honestly just a character I can really connect with. I think that's a huge sign of what a truly gifted writer Toni Aleo is. I haven't experienced what leading lady Vera had personally. But the insecurities and doubts about parenting, the worries about whether you're enough? I can relate to those kind of thoughts very well. Lincoln is the kind of guy you hope to find when you have those thoughts. He was so supportive and caring. Being great with kids was a huge bonus. Who doesn't love a man who loves and is great with kids?

Overall this book was such a wonderful reading experience. I am really enjoying the Misadventure series, and I am extremely interested in checking out more Toni Aleo books.

The narration on this was perfection. I will absolutely be looking for more from these narrators in future.

Kinda boring

The heroine was pretty selfish and a beast at times. The hero deserved more, I thought. the premise of the story is good, but it dragged on and on.
