Publisher's Summary

Have you ever heard about transcendental meditation?

You know that many stars, like the Beatles or Stevie Wonder, performed it, but you have no idea what is about.

Do you know that meditation is much more than just yoga and staying silent?

You have been interested in meditation and Eastern culture for a long time, but you don’t know where to find something more?

In this audiobook you can find the answers to these questions and to many others!

Meditation for Beginners: The Most Life-Changing Book on Transcendental Meditation That Will Shape Your Thinking on How to Meditate in Practical Ways by Gregory F. George is the ideal audiobook to be introduced to transcendental meditation. This audiobook is the perfect way for beginners to approach this practice, because it allows them to discover meditation both theoretically and practically.

The first sections are dedicated to the most didactic part of the explanation of meditation. They tell you about the story of meditation, how it has developed during the centuries until today, and how transcendental meditation was born and has spread in the Western world. You will find this part really interesting, especially if you are a beginner, because it will show how many ideas that we associate with meditation just come from the mix between the Eastern and Western culture and that a lot of them are only the surface of something deeper. Then it proceeds with the expositions of the effects of meditation on people, its benefits both on the physical and psychological level are presented. For a more complete outlook of them, you will find many examples and studies on the subject, comprehensive of sources. Finally, the audiobook offers a small introduction to the practice of transcendental meditation by explaining how to move the first steps in this discipline. This last part is very practical, it speaks to you as you are trying to do it, guiding you through the different methods and techniques. Of course, it just gives you a small hint of what meditation can actually be, but for sure it will make you curious to know more about it!

This audiobook is a great choice for anybody who wants to learn something more about meditation, whether they are new to this practice or not. It is a pleasant listen since it is really fluent and interesting, with a lot of information that spans from history to medicine, to religion, and much more.

Moreover, you will not only be more documented on transcendental meditation (and on other types of meditation that are described here), but you will also be able to understand the basics of meditation and how to start practicing it, at the beginning by yourself and then with the supervision of a master. You are going to learn some concentration techniques that you can do at home to become more familiar with meditation and with everything that comes from it.

If you wanted a How To book, try something else

Was looking for a how to book that discussed the basics of meditation. This book spends 90% of it’s time talking about meditation, such as studies about meditation, claims about meditation, celebrities that practice meditation, etc. But only the last two chapters sort of tell you how to and only very generally. Not what I was looking for.

very clear, simple ideas. good for beginners.

I found this little guide more helpful than a much longer book on the subject I listen recently. This audio and an equally simple but helpful app has helped me to meditate successfully from my first attempt.

Good starter book.

I was okay with the material included but wished it had gone further, especially with mindfulness meditation.

Its a good listen if your a beginner

Well audible. The thoughts and concepts are clear and easy to understand. I particularly like the way the author provides an open invitation to try different approaches to meditation. I recommend this book to anyone considering meditation.

Perfect for all

I've done meditation for years. Not religiously but enough that I know the basics and I know what I lived and what I need to leave my mediation happy and calm.

Not what I expected,!

I was expecting a procedural guide to begin meditation. This is basically a textbook orientation to Transcendental Meditation.

Very Much Needed

This book is elegantly composed, all around planned and prominently viable. It records and plainly clarifies 10 various types of contemplation and I prescribe it for use as a valuable exercise manual for fledgling meditators.

This is a very easy and clear book

Being able to practice this way, with printed material made me feel more empowered than I have in other scenarios. Additionally, the information about the ways provided is sound, easy to understand and powerful.

Better than expected

I have been working very hard on meditation, and learning how to properly do it. This book breaks things down into steps, and also terminology which was good because I didn't know how to define the things I needed to do.

Clear and informative

It was apparent that the order of the meditations were thoughtfully arranged. I like that the author suggested flexibility and maybe switch the types of meditations used. Easy to follow and very helpful!

I am so much happy to get this amazing book.

Most learn about chakras and I find it very interesting on what each chakra means and how to balance them. So this book taught me a lot and am on the way to becoming a happier and calmer self.

Disappointed

From the title of the book I expected to learn how to start meditating but the book is basically one big advert for transcendental meditation. The book tells you how good transcendental meditation can be which is fine but I expected to learn how to do it. With further research on the internet apparently you need to find a teacher and pay them for their services. I feel a bit cheated! I guess all the 5 star reviews are from follows.

Waste of Time

Wish i could have given no stars. Voice sounds like it's computer generated. Offers no practical help for beginners. No insight into chakras. Life changing?? Not mine!!
