3000 mastering Dutch Words in Context provides a natural way to start to learn Dutch. In presenting the 3000 most common words, it gives you a good grasp of vocabulary. Amazing!

I'm extremely happy with how the material is organized: from most to least common words. The text seems well and clearly articulated in both languages, and the example sentences apparently include vocab not counted in the 3000 indicated by the subtitle--which is a LOT of material. The only real complaint I have is that a small amount of the material is of no value whatsoever. (For example, at about halfway through Chapter 6, the proper names Jake and Bill are, absurdly, both included as Dutch words and translated into English as Jake and Bill--no kidding! And, uh, still crazier, the end of Chapter 9 provides a translation for "uh"! Perhaps the subtitle should boast of only, say, 2970 Dutch words in context.) I give the book a perfect score in every category, though I'd take a half star off "story" for the wee bit of utterly worthless material, if I could. I have questions about some of the translations, but I'm not well qualified to evaluate. IT SURE WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A PDF WORD LIST!
