Publisher's summary

Love makes men do desperate things - if desperate things means opening a rival cupcake shop to drive your ex-girlfriend crazy.

Twin brothers and air force vets Tanner and Garrett Mann return from deployment to find their thriving business burned to the ground. Time for plan B: move back to their hometown of Beach Pointe to start over.

But that means running into Paige and Morgan Baxter: gorgeous, curvy, and owners of Two Sisters Cupcakes.

There's an old diner for sale across town, Garrett's a great cook, and Tanner has an idea. They'll make savory cupcakes that men would like. We're talking bacon and Cheez Whiz. Even better? They'll call it Mann Cakes. Problem is, they end up attracting an unexpected crowd.

Paige is furious. Every man in her life has left her behind, including Tanner. She's sacrificed everything for her shop. She won't lose it over some egotistical ex-boyfriend, even if he does have an air force-chiseled body. Her younger sister, Morgan, isn't helping matters. She's been gaga over Garrett since high school.

"To hell with that. If it's a fight Tanner wants, it's a fight he'll get." But how much is Paige willing to risk to win a cupcake war?

For fans of sweet, sexy romantic comedy in the same vein as Janet Evanovich, Lauren Blakely, Kylie Gilmore, and Louisa Edwards. Bonus Mann Cakes recipe included!

Pefect Weekend Read

This was a great and quick read; perfect for a beach day or a lazy Saturday afternoon. It’s a light romance with yummy baking thrown in for good measure. I loved that the author included a child with autism and not just a child. It added a unique element to the story and also for more character development than one might have gotten otherwise.

As for the narration, I liked the narrator, but with two lead male roles and two lead female roles it might have been better served with two narrators. There were also quite a few, frequent, secondary female characters. The narrator did a great job, but I think the book itself would have been served better with both a male and female narrator to split the duties.

Now if only I could find a cupcake shop like that around here. Yum!

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Bake me a roMANce

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to someone looking for a light romantic comedy. There is a little drama in it and some mystery but overall it's a pretty light comedy.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the realistic sides of the story...listening to the teasing between Paige and Garrett you could tell there was still feelings between them that was unresolved and it reminds you of "those friends" we all know from some point in our lives.

What about Addison Spear’s performance did you like?

This was my first performance by Addison Spear and I really enjoyed listening to her. She did a good job with changing her tone and voice for different characters and her pace was perfect. I would recommend her for other books and wouldn't hesitate to buy another book of hers.

Any additional comments?

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for my unbiased review.

I loved it!

Humor, romance, and steam are great words to describe this book. I really enjoyed this book with the unexpected twists. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I thought both the author and narrator were very talented and would listen to more books by them. I was given this book and have voluntarily written this review.

Yummy In So Many Ways!

After twin brothers Tanner and Garrett Mann return from deployment to find their computer business burnt to the ground, they decide to return home to Pointe Beach and start over again. Except this time, they rent an old diner and open a savory cupcake shop, an alternative to all the overly sweet bakeries in the area. The last thing they expect is to find the Baxter sisters as their new rivals.

Paige and Morgan Baxter have their own past with the Mann brothers to deal with. Paige lost her heart to Tanner in high school, and after they broke up she found him with her best friend. And Morgan has always liked gentle Garrett, but was too shy to make a move. Now their business is threatened by the new cupcake shop, and they can't avoid the Mann brothers forever. When Paige and Tanner finally meet, they declare war.

This was a fun steamy read, yummy in so many ways! I loved the descriptions of the food and baking, and spent a lot of the time munching while listening. It was a cute plot with a bit of intrigue and mystery near the end.

The characters were interesting, and the story was told from all four characters point of view, just the way I like. Morgan and Garrett were perfect together. Garrett was adorably shy, and Morgan surprised him over and over with how bold she was now. Paige and Tanner's relationship was more difficult. Between Tanner's ego and Paige's trust issues, they had a lot to work through.

The narration was well done, Addison Spear performed different voices for each female character, and her pace and tone were great. Her narration didn't intrude on the story and really immersed me in it. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Cute MANNLEY Romance – Great Fun Enjoy🍮🍮

What made the experience of listening to Mann Cakes the most enjoyable?

Addison Spear''s performance is what made listening to MAN CAKES most enjoyable.. Spear's performance clear portrayal of Misti Parker's characters in a way that made it easier for me to imagine them.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the banter between Tanner and Paige. Tanner really knows how to get under your skin.

I also thought that the play on Tanner and Garrett's last name was clever.

What about Addison Spear’s performance did you like?

Please see above.

Any additional comments?

Misti Parker and Addison Spear are both new to me, author and performer, respectively.

Parker writes a light hearted romance that touches on some pretty tough subjects, including autism, patriotism, entrepreneurism, etc. man cakes is in its perfect category – romantic comedy. It was really fun to listen to..

I will look for books written by Misty Parker in the future. The same goes for books narrated by Addison Spear.

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. I have reviewed a lot of books. Fortunately, most fall into the category of MANN CAKES – really good.. However, I have come across books that are meh or bad. It pains me to write those reviews, but it is important to let potential listeners know my thoughts and opinion WITHOUT SPOILERS.

If you found my review helpful, would you take a moment and select – yes – at the conclusion of this review? I also invite you to follow me on Audible. Many thanks!🍮

A Fun Read

It was good to get a backstory on the Vet brothers Tanner and Garrett Mann and to get the back story for Mann Cakes. which makes a brief appearance in later books in the trilogy. Paige and Morgan, sister were hard workers but Paige was for me just not likeable though Tanner and Paige were probably a matched pair in terms of abrasiveness and thus well suited ha haha. There were a few fast-paced twists and turns towards the end though I would have liked a slower burn here. Overall a really fun read and the series gets better and better,

Two love storys

This book is about twin brothers that experience tragic loss of a business and friend and have to move back home and try to start over again.
It's also about how they find love.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
It's part mystery, romance and second chance story.
