Publisher's summary

He's cute. He's cranky. His code is sleek as hell.

What's an amnesiac AI doing in a place like this? Helix has no idea. He knows he planned to build a life for himself on Gravas Station, but he has no clue what he's been doing for the last half cycle. Nor does he understand why his ship crashed. A genius Tiralan scientist saved him by copying his code into an organic host, and after meeting her meddling mothers, it seems like his problems have only just begun....

She's clever. She's creative. She claims that he's her mate.

Qalu has no interest in relationships. She'd much rather be working in her lab, innovating instead of socializing. Problem is, the Tiralan believe that one cannot be happy alone. When a solution literally falls from the sky, she leaps at the opportunity to advance her research and teach Helix how to be Tiralan while calming her mothers' fears. It might be unconventional, but she's ready to break all the rules for a little peace.

They agree to pose as each other's mates for the most logical reasons, but love always finds a way.

Contains mature themes.

not like the first book from the series

Overall this book is ok, but it kind of boring. first book was so much fun, but the second was not the same. it's nice to know what happened to one of the AI friend. if you are looking for a fun ride, skip it and go for the 3rd one in the series.

Okay story, Boring narrator

We think the world building in the first book was a lot more extensive and pulled us in a lot more than this one. The story was okay. The characters were okay although the female leads seemed a bit emotionally immature.

The narration was amazingly boring. The narrator sounded like they’d rather be doing anything else while being anywhere else on Earth, other than reading this book.

Distracting Performance

There is very obviously two separate audio recording sessions that were melded together in the final version of this book. It is very distracting when the sound quality completely changes between sentences. One sounds like it is actually a studio recording, while the other seems muffled and distant, as if it were, quite literally, phoned in.

I have never had this experience with another audio book but it is quite jarring. There is a lot of it in the early chapters, but there is less as the book goes on. However, you are never actually rid of this strange audio-shifting.

Overall, I love the story. I appreciate both this author's ability to tell love stories from very interesting perspectives, but also the LGBTQ+ friendly nature of everything. It feels very respectful and I really appreciate seeing more variety in romance than just the standard male/female pairings.

Funny, witty, full ot story turns and twists! One of the best books I have heard and a wonderful ending to a trilogy. I hope to hear more from Ann in the future. Highly recommend the series to any who enjoy sifi, romance, thrills and a food laugh.

Different

I had mixed feelings about this story. It’s well written and may appeal to some. There wasn’t a lot of action, or mystery. I would say it was primarily based on relationships. The story included issues like gender identification and alternative family lifestyles. There is even some discussion of minority persecution (AI’s). it was interesting especially at the first when a mechanical consciousness has to learn how to be a biological consciousness. That was somewhat entertaining. I wasn’t real happy with how the mystery was resolved. The narrator made no attempt to change voices.

I was a little disappointed

I loved the first book. It was funny, had actions, romance, and the plot kept me engaged. This however...the plot was dry, the romance was very slow, and there was barely any humor. I wish I could return this.
