Publisher's summary

Alexis Holt unknowingly meets the woman of her dreams at a party. Unfortunately, Alexis was at the wrong place at the wrong time and walked away from the encounter thinking Stacy Kirkland was an arrogant snob. Alexis knew it wouldn't be the last time she saw Stacy, and she wasn't looking forward to their next meeting.

Thanks to the internet, Stacy Kirkland already knows who Alexis is before they meet face to face. She's one step ahead of Alexis because Stacy already has a crush on her. There are a couple of problems, though - Stacy's in a relationship that's in the last stages of its demise, and after meeting Alexis, she's pretty certain that Alexis despises her.

Grab something cool to drink, find a comfortable place, and let Robin Alexander take you on a hilarious journey to happily ever after.

love this book!

Love can be boring, but not with Robin Alexander. "Dear Me"'s world is filled with enough content to withstand the Sap. I know it is supposed to be a rom-com, and it is, but this book is *not* yet another book about Romance Vs. Obstacles - it is about a wedding, just not that of the heroines. It is about class mashing, opposite world views, communication styles, occasional alcohol benefits and hazards, 20 different uses for your household cats, gardening tips and tricks and genitals popping up in unpredictable places. It was filled with humor and bursts of my laughter. The main characters are real - round, unapologetic characters, that think and act as very realistic gay adult women. Funny ones. So basically - I am saying - get this book, you won't be sorry !

Amazing romantic comedy as always!

Think Meet the Fockers, but gayer. That description works for all the Robin Alexander titles I've read so far. I know a lot of lesbian romances rely heavily on angst or will they/won't they or drama and suspense, and Robin's stories do have some of that, just not caked on so thick that if it were makeup, the book would pass for a drag queen. There's no lack of conflict, but the conflicts get played for laughs, often in a super relatable way, even if you're not in a relationship (like me). It really eases the tension, so if you want to relax and listen to something not so intense and funny as Hell, you should really consider her other works too. This book in particular, I went into completely blind save for knowing the author, title, and seeing a couple quick glimpses of the cover as I bought and downloaded it and it was super fun!

Comedy with just a smidgen of romance

Very entertaining book, made me laugh repeatedly all throughout. While I did enjoy the comic relief as always, I wish it would’ve been a wee bit heavier on the romance, at least a little sooner in the story. The relationship doesn’t actually come to fruition until like hour 5ish. And it’s only briefly covered tbh. Can’t even say it was one of those “slow burns” either. I still rated the book 5 stars across the board simply due to quality of writing & Lori Prince’s great narration.

But I’m always disappointed when books are categorized as love/romance when the primary tone of the story falls in completely different genre like mystery, sci-fi, comedy, etc. That may be just me though. If you need a good laugh this is a great book & def worth the listen. Just not a permanent keeper in my les-rom library.

Enjoyable

The story was cute. Both strong characters. The supporting characters were very good, as usual.

I do think that the Holt women had way too similar names. It got very confusing at times. I also don't think this was the narrator's best work. Stacy's voice went kind of deep at times and she sounded like Alexis.

Overall, a nice way to spend a work day.

I Can Identify

I strongly identify with Alexis. She’s smarter than I am, but she doesn’t see it that way. The friends she keeps are great foils, but she still does her own stunts. Also, Robin Alexander is SO funny and the timing perpetrated by Ms. Prince was on target!. Southern Grammys are undervalued in other writing. Once again, Ms. Alexander gave a story that had ups and downs, the suspense of feeling like the only one with skin in the game, and still manages to spin a tale that is down to earth and heartwarming without being the source of added stress and dysfunctional tension. This was a great story, and I give this review freely without incentive.

very very funny

I don't often write book reviews but felt compelled after reading Dear Me. I started reading it when, although not depressed, I was feeling a little low. One chapter into the book and my mood had totally changed, I found myself laughing out loud many many times. Thank you Robin Alexander for keeping a smile on my face. There's only one thing I didn't like about the book - the story was so enjoyable I didn't want it to end and I was left wanting more. Is there, or is there going to be a sequel, I hope so, I want to hear more of grammie's street slang and find out what else her paintings of fruit have morphed into. This is one very good read

Great Humour

I have listened to this author and narrator lots of times and I always know I am going to get a fantastic story with lots of humour. Robin Alexander has a great sense of humour and she puts this into her writing, I always feel so happy after listening to her books. Lori Prince is fantastic at doing different voices and she always adds to the story with the way she narrates.

This book was only 7 hrs approx but it felt a lot longer, it didn’t feel rushed, and sometimes with medium sized books I struggle to get a connection with the characters, but I didn’t with this book, it felt like I had a connection to all the characters and I liked them all.

It’s a great romantic story and you are rooting for them to be together, it’s like love at first sight, yet they don’t get on at first which was hilarious and cute. And I love the grandma and I wish I had one like her as I would have been so proud.

Confusing at first, but snooths out

The opening chapter or two I found hard to follow, but it really comes into its own as the story progresses.

The narrator could do with a bit more variation inorder to keep the voices distinct when things get busy, but in all, a good performance.
