great story just needs a little Improvement

this is a great story and I enjoyed every minute of it. an outstanding follow-up to the previous book. both books share one flaw the stats the stats take up way too much extra space padding out the story more than necessary I think a good compromise would maybe be to have them at the end of each chapter or shortening it to just what changed rather than going over the whole stat sheet.

hard listen

I did quite enjoy the first book. the main character was quite gullible but thought through at least some of his actions. in this second book he is blindsided every single time he turns a corner and doesn't seem to plan for anything. he is saved constantly by luck. that seems to be his only redeeming characteristic through a lot of the book. the people who care about him are sure to remind him how stupid he is almost every several pages. so to me his relationships don't even feel natural. they feel more forced or plot driven. I don't even know if I'll continue on to the third book after reading this.

Decent but a bit of a let down

Narration was well done despite the storytelling flaws.

Everything felt too simple and everything is just handed to the MC. The harem building was cringe worthy and poorly done. I dont mind a harem but there was no believable development at all. For no reason whatsoever everyone wants to be with the MC after only knowing him for a few days.

The MC screwed over Desmond and the author tries to make it seem like he is just being petty and bitter when in reality he is justified to be pissed off.

MC sets him up with the town prostitute which he himself screwed like 2 weeks prior but conviently never tells him. While also hooking up with the girl who led Desmond on and got him stuck there in the first place. Yet, somehow the MC thought none of this would blow up in his face and of course everyone else just makes excuses for him.

If he had told Desmond beforehand about her past and that they hooked up once then Desmond could decide if he wanted to pursue her but instead he was kept in the dark and came out looking like a fool thanks to the MC

Desmond deserves his pay back but convienant storytelling will of course never let that happen

Best part here was the kingdom building and combat and that's what kept me reading

Review

After listening to the first audiobook, I had high hopes for the second audiobook even though the story wasn’t good but had tremendous potential for growth. The second book was a complete disappointment. The narrator was very good he brought life to the character. Which is surprising from the poor story had to go off of!. They are better LitRPG audiobooks on the market. Chaos seed, legend of the arch-mages, Spellmonger, The 10 realms. Just to name a few. At the end of the year audible has discounts and books I would wait until the end of the year to get this book at a reduced cost and save yourself the money.
