Sometimes the temptation is too much to deny.

Falling into bed with my best friend’s brother was an accident.
What happened right after… not so much.

With abs more defined than the Texas Hill Country and a killer smirk I can’t ignore, the “boy next door” is all grown up and too hot for his own good.

My heart races for a man who’s forbidden.
My breath catches each time his hand brushes against mine.
His heated glances melt me, leading me closer to temptation.

One night together has us desperate for more. But we have no desire to give this small town something to talk about—or worse, upset his sister.

But when a new tyrant of a landlord threatens my family’s business, I need a miracle.

Call it a marriage of convenience or a friendly favor, but he comes through for me. The diamond ring on my finger gets me out of a jam but also has us confronting our feelings.

Did I just make a deal with the devil? Or am I actually falling in love with my husband?

New York Times bestselling author, S.L. Scott, brings listeners her newest sharp-witted, great banter filled ranch romance. With characters causing quite the stir in their small town of Peachtree Pass, listeners are going to fall in love with not only this setting but along with the characters in this coming home story.

Baylor wanted more than his hometown offered so he left at his first opportunity and has created a successful career in finance on NYC. He has come home for a visit however due to the late time he decides to spend the night in a vacant apartment however he soon realizes he isn’t alone as his sister’s best friend Lauralee is also there.

Lauralee is surprised to see Baylor at her door but she isn’t about to send him away. When they give in to the chemistry between them they both know that they can’t have more as his visit is temporary and her life has always been in their hometown. Between his more frequent returns to town and turbulence in their careers a temporary marriage seems like the perfect solution. The only problem is the feelings between them are very real but so are the secrets between them.

It was great to catch up with the other characters in this series and to see the changes that Lauralee brought into Baylor’s life as she shows him what truly matters. Nelson Hobbs brings the heat when it comes to Baylor while Willa Jaymes brings the feels when it comes to Lauralee.

Baylor Greene left Peachtree Falls after high school, and he made a successful life for himself in NYC. He only returned occasionally to visit his widowed father and his sister and her family.

On one trip home on a stormy Texas night, Christine tells him that he should stay in the new apartment above Peaches, the shop owned by her best friend. As he gets ready for bed, he isn't aware that the bed is already occupied by LauraLee.

They've known each other for years, but now they are seeing one another differently. What starts out as "just one night" turns into another night, and then another.

Baylor goes back and forth from Peachtree Pass to NYC a couple of times. He and LauraLee are keeping what's going on between them under wraps, until they decide if it's big enough, real enough, to share.

There's minor drama with Baylor's boss, and with a little bet between friends, and with the new property management firm that owns the property that holds Peaches. They fight, they talk, they make up. LauraLee has emotional scars from her father walking out when she was a child. Baylor never expected to fall in love, but now he's willing to bare his soul to convince his wife that what they have is worth fighting for.

*Only comment on the narration was the line in the book says "the ice cream is melting" and the narrator read "the ice is melting"
