Anche se su quei muri troverà posto il suo ritratto, quando siederà in trono non sarà per regnare ma per stare accanto a un uomo scelto da altri come suo marito e sovrano.
La libertà è però un sogno a cui Amalasunta non intende rinunciare. La libertà di decidere il proprio futuro, di scegliere ciò che è bene per il suo popolo. La libertà di amare qualcuno che non è degno del sangue regale ma ha fatto breccia nel suo cuore, perché ha saputo riconoscere nello spirito indomito di una donna il coraggio di pretendere ciò che le spetta.
