Highly recommend

I had this book and audiobook as a child and happily listen to or read it again now. The story is well-crafted and moving, and the narration by Malahide is one of the best I've heard. The abridgement is also well-handled and maintains the crux of the story whilst cutting the length to a digestible amount. Music interludes throughout to break up the story into sections are a welcome edition. I'd recommend this story to young teens specifically and anyone who is looking for genuine poignancy in their audiobook.

Amazing

Really moving story made even more alive because of the narrator. It all comes in time, don't rush.

THIS IS ABRIDGED :(

This would be a lovely story if the book was unabridged. Sadly (and very disappointing for my daughter) this has chunks missing and is very choppy in its telling. So sad as the narrator does a lovely job of what is otherwise a beautiful book for readers/listeners young and old alike.

Excellent rendition of this Family favourite. Patrick Malahide captured the emotions that well over in this book beautifully and my Children and I have greatly enjoyed listening to this on a long car journey. 5 Stars all round!!

Beautiful story

My son and I listened to it in the car. We didn't want to get out of the car as we were gripped by the story.
