I Scream You Scream We All Scream ...

I travel with my 12 year old daughter and 8 year old son to relatives house, sporting events, museums, etc. For us it is a 90 minute drive. I am also looking for books that the both kids will enjoy along the way. We have try probably listen to 12 or so in the past year. Our favorites are The Battle of the Mad Scientists, The Indian in the Cupboard, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as Encyclopedia Brown Mysteries. But Encyclopedia is the one the kids, as well as I, wanted to listen to again. Of course the second time through you know what will happen and you HOPEFULLY solve the mysteries along with Encyclopedia.
We are anxiously awaiting volume 2. Get this for the your kids. You will not regret it!

Lots of Fun

These short mysteries are great for the younger listener (5-8). Even after hearing the stories a few times, my 2 still like to accompany Encyclopedia on his detective work. Good narrator.

Fun for everyone

We love this selection! It's fun for our seven year old and her little brother (age 5). If you want to be interactive they have paused between the mystery and the solution -- so you can stop the story for a discussion. Great for repeat listenings. Good narration and sound quality.

Encyclopedia Brown was a favorite of mine from my childhood, so I was very excited to discover this audiobook to share with my nieces. Very entertaining- they love listening to the mysteries!

Still fun after all these years!

I enjoyed reading Encyclopedia Brown when I was in elementary school, and now my daughter does too. This audio version allows us to match wits on car trips. Each story is short, so even if we're just headed to the grocery store, we can usually get one in.

I just wish they'd offer more of these books on Audible!

No Mystery Why I Loved This...

I remember finding this book in the bargain bin of my elementary school library. It had a very beat up cover, and a well worn pages. I bought it for $1.00 and read it over and over. Now I admit that even though I'm "all grown up" this was truly a good pick for myself.

I really enjoyed this Audible book. And I've given it 5 stars not only for the ol' trip down memory lane but for the quality of narration by Jason Harris, who really makes me feel like I'm back in the 1960s.

Bite sized reading

Great thing about Encyclopedia Brown is that they're all bite-sized stories that can draw in the reluctant reader. Kids love the good vs. bad aspect, all done in a fun, thought-provoking way. Each case provides a chance for a child to challenge themselves, as they try to figure out which clues point to the solution to the crime.

My Son loved solving the mysteries

I thought these might be too old fashioned or quaint for my 10 year old. He likes more modern stuff like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson , Disney shows with kids cracking one liner jokes. But he quickly got fascinated with trying to solve the mysteries !! He kept asking me to pause it so he could figure it out - and we would discuss and interact. He ended up loving this series. It was also a great way to introduce him to a different genre than all the fantasy stuff that dominates kids fiction right now. We enjoy that but I liked the idea of him getting a taste for detective fiction ! The audio format does a great job of giving you a verbal clue to pause and solve the mystery. The voice is good as well. Lots of fun !

casing crime

This is a good book because the mysteries are interesting and advanced. I love this book so much. I liked two better than one because it had more mysteries. Don't let anybody get this book but us!
