Publisher's Summary

She was a perfect baby, and she had a perfect name. Chrysanthemum. When she was old enough to appreciate it, Chrysanthemum loved her name. And then she started school. "I'm named after my grandmother," said Victoria. "You're named after a flower." Chrysanthemum wilted. Life at school didn't improve. In fact, it got worse. Then the students were introduced to their music teacher, Mrs. Twinkle. Mrs. Delphinium Twinkle. And suddenly, Chrysanthemum blossomed...

I read this when I was just a young girl, I <3 it.

When I was little I was picked on for my name, and when I found this book it made me feel good about my name. I highly recommend this book to parents who kids are being bullied, it'll teach them how to be happy with themselves and they'll know: They're absolutely positively perfect!

No Pictures, but it's Streep & Henkes

Can a Kevin Henkes story ever fail to be charming, hilarious, and infused with excellent take-home messages for young readers? Can anything performed by Meryl Streep ever be less than riveting? Honestly, this is a book I would have enjoyed even WITHOUT the grandson. I knew he'd be disappointed with the lack of pictures (we've come to expect illustrations with our Audible kids titles), so before we sat down to listen, I acquired a paper/print copy, and kept it handy so we could turn the pages together. We both loved it! Will certainly listen again many more times; heck, just writing this, I feel like listening again now, and the kid went to bed hours ago. Grade: A+

Note to SLPs who work with children or with developmentally delayed adults who have articulation goals: This book (the paper/print version, at any rate) is an AWESOME tool to add to your collection of speech therapy materials. I haven't seen a book this naturally suited for artic tx since Hooway for Wodney Wat.

Classroom Favorite

I used this audible reading in my classroom, and they loved it! It is now one of our favorite stories, and of course they love Meryl Streep's narration.

Too Short!

I just wish there were more audiobooks for children that are somewhere between 15 minutes and an hour. my girls love these stories but they end to quickly. However it won't hold their attention if it's more than 30 minutes. I realize it's an age thing. I love Henkes. Just need about 15 more minutes😊
