The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Publisher's summary
To the children, the town was their whole world. To the adults, knowing better, Derry, Maine, was just their hometown: familiar, well ordered for the most part. A good place to live. It was the children who saw - and felt - what made Derry so horribly different.
In the storm drains, in the sewers, IT lurked, taking on the shape of every nightmare, each one's deepest dread. Sometimes IT reached up, seizing, tearing, killing....
The adults, knowing better, knew nothing. Time passed, and the children grew up, moved away. The horror of IT was deep buried, wrapped in forgetfulness. Until they were called back, once more to confront IT as IT stirred and coiled in the sullen depths of their memories, reaching up again to make their past nightmares a terrible present reality.

Excellent performance
I have read this book many years ago and thought it was quite good. This time around I thought it was a bit too long.
Steven Weber's performance was however excellent. He gave life to the book and I will definitely look for other books that he narrated

A great deal
a very long book which gives you a real sense of presence and physicality to the setting and characters. I wouldn't call it particularly scary but that's all very subjective. I found it to be really heartfelt and sweet between it's moments of intensity and that's what kept me listening day in and day out. losses some of its steam by the end but the strength of this type of book is the pace and rythem of its second act and not so much the slow first or the overly philosophical third. Thankfully the second act (which I would argue begins at the building of the dam and goes till the end of the meeting in the library in the 80's) is the longest. while not a perfect book by any stretch of the imagination the narrator lends the often weird dialogue and bizzar jumps in logic a sense of beleavability as he effortlessly bounces between the young and old cast with very defined voices which makes it extremely easy to listen to.

Captivating from start to finish
Really excellent narrator, he did a fantastic job of all the different voices.
I’m a longtime Stephen King fan but I couldn’t bring myself to read IT given how long the novel is, so this was a great way to enjoy the story.
It spans over several different time frames and jumps around a bit, but ultimately the story is tied together very well and as usual it’s delightfully over-descriptive and terrifying.

Unbelievable performance for a horror classic!
The performance by Steven Weber was mind-blowing and certainly showcases the power of Audible. More often than not, his narration sucked me into the world of Derry and I felt in so many ways a part of the adventure that went down. It was a masterpiece in story-telling made all the more incredible due, of course, to Stephen King's horror classic.
I would strongly recommend this title for anyone who enjoys Stephen King's novels even if you've read the book before. It's quite amazing how words are brought to life when narrated in this fashion. Movies, unfortunately (sometimes) kill a book but an Audible narration like this one preserves the wonder of the author's words but gives it a lifelike atmosphere which is hard to tear away from.
One of my favorites and a hard title to beat!

Great story
I loved the bond between the main characters. Didn’t like the scene with Bev and the boys in the tunnels. You’ll know what I mean when you get there! Doesn’t ruin the book though.

Incredible but what else can you expect
The book was thoroughly enjoyable. I felt trepidation going into it considering the length but it was a breeze to listen to. The narrator can sometimes be a but pitchy but he is excellent in presenting the terror the children must feel, I found myself experiencing actual fear sometimes.
