monotone narrator. I've listen to a couple. Give it chance. I really wanted enjoy book but just Charlie Brown Mom.

Good story - needs better narrator

Story:
I was intrigued by the premise of the story. I’d seen a movie years ago about the island and have continued an interest. The story had creepy elements. A couple of the background stories sparked an interest to learn more which is always a good thing. Overall a decent story that held my interest.

Performance:
Recently, I’ve found more bad human voiced narrations than good so I decided to a virtual voice couldn’t be too much worse. I did enjoy the tone of the voices in the story, however, there were MAJOR issues with pronunciation, inflection, speaking rhythm that regularly pulled me out of the story. In a perfect world, the audio book industry would pay for good readers and encourage this as a viable career rather than trying to wipe out human offerings by spending $$ on AI.

A well read book with an amazing human narrator will always exceed AI offerings. This reading was not good.

Good But Not Great

First, I do like the virtual voice narration over some of the narrators. I find the virtual voice clear with good volume and easy to understand. For me the story started out interesting and then got very confusing with it seeming to take many different directions in the story making it hard to keep up with.

Excellent story

I love this writer excellent stories! I did not even mind the stupid AI voice reading. It would have been so much better with actual human voices reading.
