I was so disappointed due to the child narrator

I bet this would have been so much better of a story if presented appropriately. This book is not for children. Young adults/teens sure but they wouldn’t be able to get past the childlike voice either. At first I thought well it’s the character’s age, but then the voice never matured with the woman! I had to do a lot of jumping forward to get past the long beginning set up that wasn’t necessary to go that detailed or long. I wanted to get into Isaiah-Hello? It’s his story. And Hezikiah part was way to rushed through and not enough depth of the deep abandonment feelings or how Mannassah felt like why am I here? Dad is always busy. God is more important than me. He didn’t even go to my barmizpah (sp) which is a big deal. It’s the first time a boy can actually enter the temple! So all his friends went with their dads and his dad was the King, how cool is that?! Just to be let down and not be taken in by his dad’s side to introduce him? Then boom He dies. Why? Why only 15 years extra? He didn’t understand. Why would God take his dad away when he needs him most to teach him how to be a man, a leader? So all the hurt and bitterness pent up inside, no wonder he destroyed everything. He didn’t know how to be able to keep up with the name his dad had. He could never be able to be equal at least to his dad and fulfill the people’s expectations. No wonder He rebelled! Destroyed did everything opposite! He was mad at God and his dad! So It was easy to accept the other gods. But God knew his heart so much that instead of destroying him like king Ahab he gave him his time to get it out of his system until all he had left was to look to God the father and repent.
The sad thing is he should have taken a year off to be a dad with his son. But he didn’t have a good example so he didn’t think about it. So he became like King Hezikiah and became a work horse to fix everything right. But forgot his sons. And the legacy of neglecting children continued. Finally it ended because God saw man can’t do this king thing and finally sent the king of Kings - Jesus!
Get into Isiah! And explain what the prophecies meant.

And the man read the script as if no acting at all. Just reading!

So bummed

The Hosea story is great that she wrote. And great narrator!

Interesting perspective

Interesting audiobook, I have listened to many Mesu Andrews books, this one a little different. I really believe that the epilogue (authors notes) should have been stated at the beginning of this book. When I finally finished the book and listened to authors notes did I finally understand so much of the heart of the story. One of the men’s voices (king menassahs’)
voice absolutely drove me crazy, however after listening to notes I guess it was done on purpose however some would perceive as disrespectful to a certain group of people, you will understand when you listen. I didn’t like this distinction, it was not necessary to make him any different than the rest of the men( just my opinion).

I wanted to like this book but...

There is much about witchcraft in it.

Isaiah isn’t even mentioned much.

This author is no Lynn Austin.

The narrators are terrible.

I’m going to return it now.

Did not like the spiritualism content!

I don't want to know the deceptive ways of sorcery, black magic, I don't want it to enter my mind. We are not to think of these things! I am appalled.

Incredible story based on the Bible

I found myself running to the scriptures to verify this fantastic book.
I could not stop listening. It was the most incredible fascinating Truth. I’m so glad I chose this title. God is our loving restoring wonderful Heavenly Father. How He loves His creation.

At first glance I determined this book because of the betrayals and divination that I would not enjoy it. However I supremely enjoyed the knowledge I have gained.

This book was very good. It seemed to follow the Bible very well. I would recommend all to read.

Creates a desire to dig deeper!

Both this book and Isaiah’s Daughter created in me a desire to read from scripture the accounts. The reality of a very young king led astray was difficult to process at times, but it makes the redemptive part of this story so much more rich. Finally, I am simply in awe of the thread of judgement, love, and forgiveness that God continued to weave with the prophets through the many seasons of God’s people turning away from him to idolatry.

Historical stories about the Bible are so very interesting. They help the Bible become real.

Amazing

I loved this story even though it was hard because the reality of King Nasa he was cruel as theasireans were so cruel
The fact that Yahweh turned their hearts against all odds and lack of faith due to despair it was one of the most amazing books I heard.
I also loved the narrators amazing job
I pray Yahweh keeps using the author as He has and blessings to her

A story about redemption

I struggled finding this story and only to the end, did it become compelling for me. The worship of false gods and murders, was a bit too much for me.

A really interesting and detailed interpretation of Isaiah and Manasseh s life. A good read.
