Story
We live in an extraordinary time. Technological advances are happening at a rate faster than our ability to understand them, and in a world that moves faster than we can imagine, we cannot afford to stand still. These advances bring efficiency and abundance - and they are profoundly deflationary. Our economic systems were built for a pre-technology era when labor and capital were inextricably linked - an era that counted on growth and inflation and an era where we made money from inefficiency.

Story
When a pseudonymous programmer introduced “a new electronic cash system that’s fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party” to a small Online mailing list in 2008, very few paid attention. Ten years later, and against all odds, this upstart autonomous decentralized software offers an unstoppable and globally-accessible hard money alternative to modern central banks. The Bitcoin Standard analyzes the historical context to the rise of Bitcoin, the economic properties that have allowed it to grow quickly, and its likely economic, political, and social implications.

Bitcoin is an inexhaustible teacher, which is why I do not claim that these lessons are all-encompassing or complete. They are a reflection of my personal journey down the rabbit hole. There are many more lessons to be learned, and every person will learn something different from entering the world of Bitcoin.

The only limited resource is human time. Everything else can be made, bought, or created. Our life is made up of around 600,000 hours and every second is of infinite value. We live in an attention economy where corporations are fighting for our time with the goal of monetizing our every second. The money we use loses value and devalues our time through inflation.

The story of Ethereum begins with Vitalik Buterin, a supremely gifted 19-year-old autodidact who saw the promise of blockchain when the technology was in its earliest stages. He convinced a crack group of coders to join him in his quest to make a super-charged, global computer. The Infinite Machine introduces Vitalik’s ingenious idea and unfolds Ethereum’s chaotic beginnings. It then explores the brilliant innovation and reckless greed the platform has unleashed and the consequences that resulted as the frenzy surrounding it grew.

An expert, story-driven account of how Coinbase won the cryptocurrency game and set itself up to lead the future of banking and blockchain-based trading. This is the story of the people who made Coinbase, per PitchBook, “one of the most valuable startups in the US,” including the stoic, preppy founder and CEO Brian Armstrong and the bitcoin-obsessed former lumberjack Olaf Carlson-Wee, who turned their backs on the first generation of wild-eyed Bitcoin prophets to build something more profound and practical.

Publisher's Summary
Bitcoin may well be the greatest invention of our time, and most people have no idea what it is or how it works. Walking through its invention, step by step, this short audiobook is critical before you invest. Learn why Bitcoin was invented and how it works.
Praise for the book:
"Having read virtually every Bitcoin explainer, I believe it’s the best from-scratch introduction to Bitcoin, requiring no prior knowledge at all. I will be referring newcomers to it from now on." (Nic Carter, founding partner of Castle Island Ventures)

Great For Newcoiners and Bitcoiners Alike
Interested in increasing your understanding of the bitcoin network, it's origins, function, and future? Yan Pritzker's seminal work (narrated by the infamous Guy Swann) is an engaging and intuitive exploration of all the above. If you only read (listen to?) one bitcoin book, you can't go wrong with Inventing Bitcoin. Well written and easy to grasp, yet detailed enough with technical and philosophical nooks and crannies for several repeat listens (reads?) With bitcoin poised to change the world, don't leave knowledge about this paradigm shift on the table. Check out Inventing Bitcoin by Yan Pritzker. You can thank me later.

The best introduction to bitcoin
If you are new to bitcoin you probably have a lots of questions and maybe some ideas about why it can't work. This book does a brilliant job of explaining bitcoin as an invention: a breakthrough in computer science and the use of human incentives. You also come a way with a real appreciation for why it is so difficult to stop bitcoin or replicate it's success. This is the perfect place to start to get to grips with the subject - I dont know anywhere else where so much ground is covered so well in such a short read.

Compared with other books I’d listened it was hard to stay focused because of a computer like narrator.
