Publisher's Summary

Falling down the Bitcoin rabbit hole is a strange experience. Like many others, I feel like I have learned more in the last couple of years studying Bitcoin than I have during two decades of formal education. The following lessons are a distillation of what I’ve learned. First published as an article series titled What I’ve Learned from Bitcoin, what follows can be seen as a third edition of the original series.

Like Bitcoin, these lessons aren’t a static thing. I plan to work on them periodically, releasing updated versions and additional material in the future. Bitcoin is an inexhaustible teacher, which is why I do not claim that these lessons are all-encompassing or complete. They are a reflection of my personal journey down the rabbit hole.

There are many more lessons to be learned, and every person will learn something different from entering the world of Bitcoin. I hope that you will find these lessons useful and that the process of learning them by listening won’t be as arduous and painful as learning them firsthand.

The book all bitcoiners should have

Beautifully performed and extremely dense with insights. Reminded me of all the things I learned while falling down the rabbit hole myself.

Succint but very deep

Highly recommend it for people getting into crypto and also people who need to confirm certain philosophical aspects of it

Too many quotations

Don't get me wrong, I love Alice in Wonderland as much as anyone and like the idea to use it as an analogy to (quite effectively) explain the failings of the monetary system, but being reminded that a particular quote was by Lewis Carroll every 30 seconds is very noticeable and repetitive.

Perhaps moving the attributions to the Foreword or Credits (or simply not relying on so many quotes) would've sufficed?

Other than that it was a nice listen and I look forward to diving into the online content referenced in the book.

Lesson 22 - one needs both Kindle & Audible

Listen to the Audible version along with reading the Kindle version. Amazon's AI narration is awful, and need the Audible version to get Guy Swann's delightful narration of Gigi's work. Unfortunately at this time, Amazon does not offer the Audible companion when purchasing the Kindle version of 21 Lessons. The Kindle version is essential if just for the footnotes. While each lesson in 21 lessons is short, it will take the diligent months to unpack the footnotes - but when you do, you will be thoroughly hooked. For those of us who have already fallen down the rabbit hole, we have come to realize that Bitcoin "is too intertwined, the topics too numerous, and things are moving too fast to ever be fully understood by a single person." (Gigi) Yet we persist - each on our own personal journey to understand how Bitcoin might solve some of society's most intractable problems.

Good but tedious

This book would be a bit more bareable reading the physical copy. Hearing "By Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland", as the quotes at the start of each section, literally ever minute or less got so tedious that i couldn't finish the book. Insights themselves are quite good however.

What a brilliant book

@dergigi has outdone Himself on this book. I’ve read nearly all books written on the topic of Bitcoin and this one is up there with the very best of them, especially as an introduction to Bitcoin. Truly this compilation of thoughts put to paper for us all to read (or read to us by guy Swann) is a masterpiece. Thanks @dergigi

Perfect if you're just getting started with bitcoin, or if you just want to hear a few really good points presented in a bite sized, easy to grasp, ready to share way. Listening again already.

A clever and concise audiobook

In-depth understanding of bitcoin nicely summarised into 21 key points/ short chapters. Part technical, part history lesson, part philosophy, part global economics.
