Having saved humanity from an invading alien armada, Ian Lotus finds himself not rewarded but once again on the run - struggling to stay one step ahead of a galactic government intent on his capture.

However, you don't live as long as Lotus has - well beyond the lifespan of a normal human being - without picking up a trick or two, and Lotus is savvier than most. Catching him won't be easy. Still, his pursuers have a powerful incentive: their quarry is in possession of secrets that could reshape mankind's destiny - in particular, the fact that he's the only person capable of controlling the protective halo of weaponry known as the Chronos Ring, which is humanity's first and last line of defense against its enemies throughout the cosmos.

But human agents aren't all Lotus has to worry about. Also hot on his heels is an army of genetically-engineered horrors controlled by an exiled despot from an alternate dimension, who sees Lotus - and in particular, the Ring - as the pathway for both a return to power and the subjugation of humanity. It's up to Lotus to find a way to stop this menace, before the entire human race is enslaved.

After listening to this novel I realized that since I did not read nor listen to the first novel, I was pretty lost in the storyline. The narrator was very good, great pace, enunciation and emotional levels were spot on and he was fun to listen to. I think that the blend of sci-fi and fantasy was well done, I just wished that I had all the character backstories from novel one. I think that I would have had less questions and going "huh". I was given an ARC of this novel and this is my honest review.

I wish I had read the first one.

Ok , I purchased book 1 and it was great, so I was happy to accept book 2 in exchange for a review. It did not let me down. Our ‘hero’ leads us on another multi dimensional adventure. Earl Hardman keeps it simple, enjoyable, full of action and fun adventure. Mikael Naramore brings this to life with a great performance. I’m looking forward to book 3:-)

I really liked the computer part of this book. It made me chuckle a few times. This is a fun story, it's out of my normal genre, but I still find the story line pretty good. I am unawares of how many books are in this series, but I will probably listen to them all.

I thought the beginning was rather slow, with unnecessary dialog. I thought it was going to set the tone for the whole book, but the story ended up being very interesting. The few things I disliked about it were how the narrative arc seemed to completely change directions without ever wrapping back around, to do with the main characters family and we never return to see them by the end. Otherwise, the story was fun, and I rather enjoyed the AI communicating with him, as well as the roundabout ways he was able to figure things out with the AI, like exactly which places the bad guys aren't, that was fun and clever.

Although shorter and not as complex a storyline as the first book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrator is excellent, the characters engaging, and you can really get behind our main Protagonist. Another winner, and I hope EEH continues with the saga.

FUN Sequel to EON
