Publisher's summary

Fallen angels take residence in Infertat’s Golden City after their banishment from Verdigrid. Lucifer and his kin establish their rule over the city’s human inhabitants as a symbol of defiance to the Eternal and angelic army that cast them down. They gather humans without any magical abilities and put them to hard manual labor in the slums across the Chasm. These slums are home to Priya, a young woman who discovers a secret within herself which can hinder Lucifer’s plans and help the human resistance take back their city from the daemons. That is, if she can take control of the hungry beast within herself.

Sul is an ambitious magus in the Golden City, Zack has just gotten accepted to a prestigious Ivy League university in New York City. Azul has never been happy with his life in Verdigrid and Sammael, the angel of death, a keeper of the balance feels uneasy.

Seemingly unrelated, many threads of fate run parallel to one another. It is only a matter of time until they converge and hold the fate of the worlds in their hands.

interesting take with a bit extra

I'll admit, it took me a bit to get into this one. the structure of the story is a bit unorthodox, and got a little confusing in the beginning. but once adjusted, the story becomes a lot more interesting. this is especially true within the last half of the book when connections start to be made between characters. overall a good story, but could use a good edit to bring it all together better.

as for narration, i have to give credit, there are a lot of characters to voice, send for the most part everyone had their own that defines them. biggest complaint would be the similarities between two of the main characters names, made it confusing as who was being spoken about. but overall a good job.

It’s good, not quite for me though

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a good and interesting book that has a deep story and the narrator does a good job (nothing particularly amazing or awful). I’m not a big fan of books for listening too when it gets a little long winded and has multiple story angles all going at once but if that’s not a problem for you give it a shot!

Great Concept

Paralel dimensons, characters that make you root for them and hate them at the same time, conspiracy, and secrets abound in this work !

This is worth your time if you like fantasy!

I received a copy of this audio book on my request, least I could do is leave an honest review.

This is one of the most involved and interesting stories I have listened to in a while. The concept is not entirely original but the way that is has been executed is for sure! I couldn’t stop listening. I only listen to audio books while I am at work and this made me excited to come into work for a few days while I was getting through it. I didn’t want it to end the multiple “main characters” the different realms tied together. The back and forth between the world leaving you excited in the moment for what is happening but on the edge of suspense wondering what was going on in a different world at the same time. This is going to be a multi book story at least I am lead to believe that by the amount of detail and the books ending. I am almost mad that this just came out as I don’t want to wait I want to know what happens next. The narrator was just excellent I have listened to a few of his narrations and he always brings something new to the table each time. I will be highly disappointed if he is not narrating the next installments until the end of this series unfolds. I haven’t been this excited about waiting for a new installment in a while. Give this book a shot if you enjoy fantasy I don’t think it will leave you dissatisfied but just wanting to know what happens next!

Infertat

I liked the beginning of this story, but by the end I just wanted it to be over. There are angels and demons and 'hexes',which I think are people.Every month people are tested by jumping over a crevass with a monster under. If they make it 'YAY",if not they die.People that make it are free, but are they really? I don't know.Narration by Sean Duregger was excellent.I was given this book free by the author, narrator or publisher for an honest review.

Really Interesting concepts

The fall that wasn't a fall. A series of magic weaved between worlds tying worlds, cultures and belief structures together is what unites this work in retelling of myth and how we interact with them in our lives. There's so much here that could really elevate this work into something glorious but there's just a bit missing here. What is excellent though is the narration. Sean Duggar brings each character to life with grace and passion and really nails the derision and wonder in the demons, angels and the like.

The better parts are when the worlds blend and you can experience the wonder and humor and awe. There's a real urgency with The Fall and the machinations of each group vying for power is interesting but the end result is lacking.

Better than I originally thought

This book exceeded my expectations by far. Ive always enjoyed the “supernatural” (Angels, Demons, Mages). I found this a little tricky to follow at first but after an hour of listening I was hooked and i felt like i could picture everything.

I would recommend this book to anyone that loves the “supernatural” and i am hoping and anxiously waiting to hear if there will be a sequel to this book

Just OK

More of a sci-fi/fantasy thriller than horror. I also found it somewhat confusing with all the characters and stories within stories felt it could have more simplified but the narrator kept me listening to finish it. There were some spots I liked though. Would recommend for sci-fi or fantasy/magic lovers rather than horror fans. It's ok

Infertat has some good concepts within it. It mixes some real world characters, some fantasy magical characters, and angels/demons characters. There are some good plot elements too. Some of the best is where the real world character interacts with certain characters from the magic world. The unfortunate thing is that the story lacks structure and good pacing.

There are a lot of characters the book follows around but I'm not exactly sure who's important all the time. There are a couple characters in the fantasy world, and that the plot summary addresses, that aren't really focused on or explained as to what makes one of them so awesome apart from the other magical people. The attempt to tie the characters together doesn't happen in this book and sets it up for a sequel. The problem is that the story in this book is building only and even that it takes a long time to do so. The Fall from Heaven is done well and although it could have done without inter-cutting other stories from the current timeline to it, it's interesting and deals with a lot of questions you would have about what the Fall might have looked like. And yet, the take over of the magic realm isn't covered really at all or why a magic realm exists. The rules of the world are hard to gather from the story and there are parts that needed some more explanation to build the world. Some of the Bible references were accurate (and if the author wants an example of Christians reading the whole Bible, there are quite a few) and using some of the known demons and Grim Reaper images were a nice touch.

That is not to say the book is terrible. I enjoyed it enough for the time I put into it. It probably didn't need to be as long as it was and it could have used that free up space to at least get through the conflict that the plot sets up. If the plot sounds interesting to you, which there's more to it then what's written here, and you're ok waiting for a possible sequel then you might like it. It was ok. Final Grade - C-

NARRATION: Sean Duregger does a really great job with the story. It's not too over the top but he's got to play a lot of different demon voices which had to be a challenge but it was a good touch. There is one voice that had me picturing Sean Connery as a demon. There are a lot of characters in the book and Duregger is really talented. I would be happy to listen to him with other readings in the future. Good work.
