The apocalypse is coming, but only a lucky—or perhaps unlucky—few know.

Silas is inducted into the System, becoming the last in a long line of Earth's "forerunners." The rewards are great, but the danger is greater. We are not alone in the universe. The fate of five worlds hangs on how their forerunners perform.

Will Silas have what it takes to win Earth a place in the multiverse? Or will Earth become another mining world stripped of all resources and left a barren husk floating in the cosmos?

A system-enforced secret, a deadly challenge, and only a year to go. The countdown begins now!

the story is captivating and for those who enjoy the nerdier side of life it feels like a well made lasagna with layers of nostalgia , classic gaming tropes , tasteful humor and inuendos and exciting combat . overall it was fantastic . also to have Travis narrating was perfect for those who loved the cradle series I feel confident you'll deeply enjoy . can't wait for the next one !

exactly the kind of book I was looking for

The book was great! When i first started i couldn’t stop listening, and i think the narrator did a wonderful job (tho i might be a bit biased as ive listened to him do stuff before). I will say the cover (or picture i guess) doesn’t really capture the vibe of the book, but it doesn’t really matter cuz, as i said, it’s really good.

Fantastic introduction

Though it was a strong set up for the series. Just wish it was longer!

solid

The author Had to go into detail about "man-splaining," which broke me out of the awesome story being told and braught me back to this reality. This is nothing but a political talking point/ ideology that just promotes general hatred for men. Can't say I'm a huge fan for having said ideologies shoved down me throat at every turn (or so it feels like) these days, when I am actively trying to escape this dystopian reality we currently live in, via books, but such is life.

And finally, it felt like the pacing was off towards the end.

Other than these two issues (roughly 10%) the other 90% of the book was fantastic. Probably other things I missed on the negativeside of things, but eh, wasn't enough to break me out of the story, I guess.

I really enjoyed the premise and the story in general.

I was talking about the main plot of this to a friend and he was talking about how it sounded identical to Primal Hunter. The author also seems to be some sort of fan of He Who Fights With Monsters.

The world building is 11/10 and extremely vivid like a canvas of art. The character depth however is really shallow and dull. So you got a beautiful painting with stick figures running around in it. The plot is decently paced and is interesting enough to maintain attention.

AlI in all: 7.5/10

It’s good. Not great, but good.

I thought it was an interesting and slightly different take on the genre. I also liked that he condensed the stats to just a few chapters. I enjoy hearing them, but I find it annoying in other books where they basically pause the story every single chapter when they make a new level to go over the stats again.

Fun and entertaining LitRPG

Excellent addition to my library... until...
Call me what you want, but the moment the two female forerunners came into the picture, the listening got strenuous. The male forerunner, the rude one, had said some pretty sexists crap about the two females prior to us ever meeting them. I was a little shocked, and instantly disliked that dude... however the moment they came into the picture, I understood exactly what he meant, albeit in a different way completely. Particularly one of them. She was so pompous and rude to the MC on the very first interaction, I figured it must have been a one off thing. Nope. Literally every moment she spoke, was just a typical modern day "Karen" looking to just misjudge everyone and everything. Fortunately for me, there is a skip button. I abused that thing the moment she was around MC.

Otherwise this title is amazing. Easily one my favorites for this year, and I just picked up the second book. The third book is already prepared to be released by the end of the summer and I'm darn excited for it.
