Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Publisher's Summary
Commit an online crime, go to an online jail. In this MMORPG penal colony, inmates PVP to gain EXP, loot, and most of all...survive.
Seph has been sentenced to play in one of these virtual correctional facilities. Sounds fun right? Maybe for some, but there is no worse punishment for Seph, mostly because he isn't a gamer. Will he be able to complete his sentence with all the trials and objectives thrown at him? Trapped in a virtual world he cannot escape, Seph now has to step outside of his comfort zone and align himself with the very thing he's been rebelling against his whole life - the system.

Moogie
The author provides a bleak view of the futuristic world devoid of human interaction. I found the narrators voice to be pleasant and despite being a book about a male MC being read to me by a female narrator the vocal ranges and personality injected into the characters allowed me full immersion into the story. The MC made me cringe so many times making newb mistakes that only a non gamer could pull off. The side chars were believable and very realistic of the types of other gamers one would run into if stuck in the scenario. TY for the excellent brain candy during my corona imprisonment.

Fun and Engaging LitRPG
I did enjoy listening to this story; both the real-life and in-game sections were engaging. It should be mentioned that the real-life section of the story takes up the first few hours, but that isn't a complaint. I actually enjoyed the real-life section since it showed the author's vision of the future.
The protagonist, Seph (short for Sephiroth), hates video games. He also routinely makes bad life choices. He seems to have a grudge against AIs and honestly, it was cathartic to watch the machines get back at him. His ability to make bad choices follows him into the game world, which I found rather amusing.
The narration was well done and the narrator did a good job of voicing the various characters.

Leadite forced into a game!
Solid story and narration!
Our MC is an angsty teenager rebelling against a digital society. People rarely leave the confines of VR, and he avoids it in rebellion. Until he crosses a line and is sentenced to prison where he will be forced into VR for the duration! Skipping the tutorial he realizes that he has no idea what is going on. Will our angsty MC be able to rally? Will he learn to enjoy a Gameworld?
Crystal Wikoff does a good job with narration.
While I struggles with the early portion of this book, the MC does eventually get his act together and things get quite interesting.
The series shows potential - I'm interested to find out what happens in the next book.

moogee!
Up front I was afraid this was going to be a Ready Player One rip off, I was way off. I had a couple audio edit errors or a down down load but it was a really cool book. The bad guys reaffirmed why I never play anything on pvp servers, he really nailed down what it means to be a jerk, and one the other side nailed down what it means to be a noob.

one of the best most original litrpg of 2019
this book from a seemingly unknown author to the genre really surprised me, the origin story, the gaming systems and character development were all spot on. the stats weren't as crunchy as some but crunchy enough to be entertaining and meaningful, and the way the author incorporates pvp and griefinng is perfect. the protagonist doesn't whine or wimper about getting ganked and killed and the author didn't make pvp the enemy like so many authors do giving their characters supercharged unrealistic abilities to somehow smash the pker. he treats it like it's just part of the game that you have to deal with and out smart not something to try and demonize and fetish kill. and I love that. great read 5 out of 5 can't wait for book 2

Starts slow, but worth sticking with it
This book was an odd mix for me, the ingame part of the book engaged me with the characters and storyline both providing an entertaining introduction to the series, but the author simply took far too long to reach that point, taking 2-3 hours of the book's total runtime and not doing anywhere near enough to make me interested in the main character's life prior to their time in the game.
The performance of the narrator was also a little mixed for me, their range and tone worked well for the supporting cast, but didn't quite work for me with the main character as the voice didn't seem like it matched the main character and reduced my immersion in the book.
Overall, a promising start to the series and an enjoyable story once it finally gets going.

A classic litrpg with a twist
I recieved a review copy of this book. Unlike alot of litrpg books, this one managed to create a 'real world' that was both fascinating and fun. The game elements themselves area solid and interesting, but personally I will continue with the rest of the series mostly to see what becomes of the main character in the real world.
