Publisher's Summary

Every great romance comes with a risk...

After a duke's betrayal, the resilient Sarah Forrester reinvents herself as the Golden Lady: Society's leading light, the beautiful and witty life of the party. It's all a facade of course - one that protects her from another intimate disloyalty. When her old friend, Lieutenant Jackson Fletcher, returns to London, he is determined to rediscover the true and trusting Sarah he once knew. It'll take more than a kiss and a promise. It might even call for an innocent and necessary deception.

Then Jackson is enlisted to help capture the lead suspect in a murder - a man who happens to be Sarah's most ardent suitor. Jack must continue the deception, and weathering this newest and gravest betrayal will be Sarah's ultimate test. But as Jack's passion for her grows, he must also reveal his own secrets. And as the killer turns his attention to his pursuers, more than love and trust is put at risk.

Can’t get enough

This series is just amazing and probably the best narrator I’ve experienced. This is book 4 and I’m overjoyed when I heard there’s a book five. You’ll love this series!

Needs to be a Miniseries !

Cross Jack Ryan with Bridgerton and you get the Blue Raven Series. Someone needs to call Prime and get that deal going😉.
Yet another good story in this series!

Wow! This book is horrible when compared to the rest in the series. Sarah is an idiot.

Good writer, drawn out story

I'm struggling a little with this series. This is obviously a good writer who can deliver subtle humor and can also show rather than tell (with some exceptions), which is rare for this genre. So I keep grabbing the next book. However, they are sometimes slow to grab my interest and often have details and drawn-out scenes that don't help advance the plot. They need a good developmental editor to cut a substantial amount of copy and tighten the flow. Usually, the premise in the beginning seems intriguing, but it isn't long before those overly long and unimportant scenes take over. Once the plots get going, some of that is easy to overlook with a faster speed and the fast-forward button. As a side note, one of my least favorite tropes is someone who falls in love as a child, with a child. So the references to themselves as children and the retelling of their childhood interactions was boring. In general, these books are worth a listen for light entertainment, and I will continue to give this author a shot.

Terrible narration

So, I’ve actually really enjoyed this series, however, every other book in the series I’ve been unable to finish because of unbearable narration.
Kate Noble is a talented storyteller. It’s unfortunate that her stores are ruined by unfortunate narration.
This narrator, Alison Larkin, has difficulty making dialogue sound natural. The inflection of her voice, the goofy tone applied when doing male voices, and the projection of her dialogue - as if she’s reciting lines on stage, make it difficult to connect to the story and give the overall tone of the book a comical feel.

Just TOO Long

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you like the story to be drawn out for a LONG time.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kate Noble again?

Probably not. This is my 2nd try, and it isn't emotionally compelling enough. Too much repetition.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alison Larkin?

She wasn't the problem.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The characters were strong. The plot just needed to move more. I couldn't get past the half way point. It was just too slow.
