Return to the action-packed epic fantasy series World’s Strongest Warrior as Chuck Taylor battles through the harrowing Tower of the Last God, facing the Seven Sins and Lucifer himself in a gritty adventure to save his closest companion from oblivion.

The grind never ends. The stakes have never been higher.

Chuck Taylor thought he was just getting good. Now he’s the only one left.

After losing his closest companion in a catastrophic raid, Chuck sets aside his prized weapon and takes on the impossible: the Tower of the Last God. One hundred floors. No checkpoints. No second chances. No one’s ever made it past sixteen.

Armed with backup gear, raw grit, and a new dual-wielding ability, Chuck must conquer twisted trials, face the personifications of the Seven Sins, and outfight the Tower’s deadliest champion—Lucifer himself.

The reward? A forbidden artifact that could bring his friend back from oblivion. The cost? Everything.

But Chuck didn’t get this far by playing it safe.

Sometimes, the only way out is up.

For those out there that have commented about the fact that this book has adult themed aspects and have simply said that. The book is not good because of this. That's your own personal opinion.

It is true that the MC is incredibly overpowered, but he has to be this kind of follows. The rules of one punch man so keep that in mind when reading the book is not necessarily about his ascension, it's not about his level. It's not even about the fact that he can 1 shot 99% of the monsters that are in the book. the story itself is actually of the growth of the relationship that he has with his personality and the people around him. And the absolute ridiculousness of the world that he lives in now.

The relationships are incredibly complicated, and it actually goes through several adult themes that happen in everyday life. confusion about your own existence, or why you like something is a normal thing for most people. This book does not read like a comic book. It's not like a Hollywood movie. So be prepared to be frustrated simply with the fact that you have a guy that doesn't really understand emotions. And has an entire world that's completely ridiculous.

I highly recommend and I cannot wait until the third book... it will be efficient.

So after listening to the first book of this series, I was really excited when the second one came out so I could give it a listen. Kenny King did a great job setting up the main character and the world he is now in with the first book and how the MC is a bit broken and turns into a powerhouse through grit, being stubborn, and following the numbers to maximize everything. As someone who has listened to several dozen LitRPG series over the last 5 years, finding ones that don't feel like a generic carbon copy of the more popular LitRPGs series out there can be tough. While this series does have the usual LitRPG pitfalls and tropes, King did a really good job focusing on his characters, the numbers, and the magic system. While the world the MC is in could still use some fleshing out, I still feel like things are going at a good pace.

For book two, there was more of a clear goal for the MC and his friends which I appraciated. The first book did sort of wonder off with the story sometimes and felt like the MC didn't really have a set goal and got swept up into different scenarios just becuase he was strong. With this second book, there felt like a more clear defined goal and something for the MC to keep working at which I really enjoyed. Again King introduced a lot of new characters with many being interesting and fun to see interact with the MC. Speaking of the MC, it was good to see Chuck start to evolve and actually act a bit more emotionally then just robotic. While he was still about accomplishing his goals and making the numbers go up, seeing him break out of his shell and not be so rigid and anger filled like he was in the first book was a nice change of pace.

Obviously we should talk about the elephant in the room as many other reviewers have pointed out, there was a lot of adult frisky time happening in this book. This adult content definitely came out of left field and just kept popping up over and over again throughout the book with very graphic detail. I am not really sure why King felt the need to add all this unwanted adult content to this book, but I really hope he reigns it back in for the rest of the series as I don't think anyone was expecting this book to have so many graphic sex scenes when it was following more of a traditional LitRPG type style and story. Every time these scenes were in the book, I kept feeling super uncomfortable and I could just taste the cringe. I feel really bad for Luke Daniels having to narrate those scenes.

If you take the adult content scenes out of the equation, overall this was a really solid second entry into a new LitRPG series. There was a lot more lore and world building, new fun characters were introduced, the main character actually grew as a person instead of just being a standard murder hobo, and I actually look forward to see where our One Crit Man goes next in this world.

As for narration, Luke Daniels always does a fantastic job. I've listened to dozens upon dozens of books narrated by him and he always does great voice work. I think the only negatives I could say would be that Luke went a bit more deadpan with his voice in random locations in both the first book and this one which tends to hit my ear weirdly when he does so. Most of the time he has a good energy to his voice and brings all the characters to life really well, though his voices for women can get a little whiney or bland sometimes, but when he cuts to his non-emotional voice I tend to have to speed through those parts as they just seem so off.

Anyway, if you liked the first book of this series, the second feels a bit more refined and actually has some goals set for the main character as well as more world building. I would also keep an ear out for the adult content though as it will randomly happen throughout the book and really does feel out of place for this series.

Great Second Entry Except For the You Know What

Story was okay but the sections with explicit sex added nothing to the value of the story. Subtle hints would have been fine.

Not bad

Love the book, hate the adult scenes. There is no need for them in this genre.

this would have been a 5 if there wasn't unnecessary sex - a relationship is fine but i listen for fun and a good story. i would read a romance if i wanted sex.

I liked the story, characters where fun, the fight scenes where entertaining and the as the story itself puts it the “Grind was optimal”

It’s good

The random, detailed sex scenes are weird and distracting. Feels like I’m reading porn, which is not the genre I picked for LitRPG. I skipped those chapters, but I’m also annoyed that I was randomly introduced to it when book one had no sex. I won’t continue the series.

Sex?

the amount of graphic sex and anatomical descriptions was a shock coming in from book 1. the story and characters are good otherwise, I did enjoy a lot of the book, I just wasn't prepared or expecting to hear so much about the characters anatomy.

hornier than ELLC
