Publisher's summary

Pinion, Minnesota: a huge city of all of 700 folks who define the phrase ‘small town’. Nothing has ever happened in Pinion, and nothing ever will...until the mayor of sorts comes up with a scheme to put Pinion on the map. He’s heard of a place where a floating image of the Virgin Mary turned the whole town into a shrine, attracting thousands of curious people and making the townsfolk rich overnight. Why not stage a prank in Pinion and do the same? What could go wrong?

And then a dead body shows up.

It turns out that lots can go wrong with a get-rich-quick scheme like this one...and lots will. It’ll take everything Virgil Flowers has to put things to right - before someone else dies.

Sandford Does it Again

I find that many authors of series books tend to fall into the formula trap after producing four or five books with the same main characters. To the delight of his legion of fans, Sandford avoids this trend with the Virgil Flowers series. This book is as fresh and interesting as the first book of the series, while maintaining all the elements that make "that f$#king Flowers" so beloved. The hunt for the killer in a small town is complex and believable. I really enjoy the complexity Sandford weaves into the support characters of the townspeople. Sandford does it again; creating an imaginary world you look forward to spending a few hours in and longing for when the story is complete.

Weather is a Cold Storm on Sanfords' books.

The reason lots of customers and avid readers buy John Sanford (I have all of his books, or at least close to 30 audio books) is not because he drank the Kool-Aid.

I loved his writing until the cold bossy water of Weather was thrown on it. The readers you started out with, I expect will not be the ones you end with. Sadly, I wont be buying more.

Thanks for some great stories,

That’s our Virgil!

As always, JS has done a marvelous job with this book, including the characters, the storyline, and of course the humor! Great read!
