Publisher's summary

Napoleon Bonaparte was a man of unique distinction, the kind that only comes once every few centuries. In fact, he was so unique that his lasting legacy is still debated to this very day.

This audiobook provides a concise and proper portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte's character and career. Napoleon as he was - not saint, not sinner, but a man dedicated to and ultimately devoured by his vision of himself, his empire, and his world. In the aftermath of the French Revolution, France was in a state of division and anarchy and in desperate need of a leader.

This audiobook endeavors to examine his entire life and the history that has made him such a compelling figure in the nearly 200 years since his death and balance the different aspects of his character. It also presents the true stories and struggles faced by Napoleon Bonaparte.

The lens of historical retrospect is a powerful one, and it has created varying viewpoints of many historical figures. But perhaps there has never been a legacy quite as eclectic as Napoleon’s. Napoleon could write lengthy treatises on the rights of man while holding his own in firefights that mowed down millions.

This is what you will discover inside:

  • Napoleon at artillery school
  • Setting out to conquer the world
  • Napoleon’s Middle Eastern odyssey
  • The Napoleonic code
  • Napoleon’s showdown with Britain
  • Conquering continental Europe
  • Facing million-to-one odds
  • Napoleon’s home defense
  • The last days of Napoleon Bonaparte

When it comes to determining the character of Napoleon Bonaparte, no matter what you may have heard or read, you really have to decide for yourself. If you’re looking for his strategy in warfare, works on his political maneuverings, or fictionalized takes on his life, this audiobook allows you to do that.

Great basic overview

It is a quick basic overview of Napoleon for those that don't want a long in depth book.

Poorly written.

The author writes in a novice manner, leading the listener to feel as though it was written by a high school or early university student. The reading isn’t great either, with poor French pronunciation and odd pauses and emphasis throughout. Despite being only about two hours, it’s a tough book to finish.

Reeks of the writer's bias

I got this to learn about Napoleon, not the author's opinions. Waste of money.
