Publisher's summary

From New York Times Bestselling Author Catherine Bybee comes the long-awaited next installment in her MacCoinnich Time Travel Series.

No ordinary hero can save Amber from death…it will take a Highland Protector.

Amber MacCoinnich's survival depends on her traveling to the twenty first century, or so her mother’s premonition told her. Death taunts Amber and offers peace in her endless pain. Without the mysterious savior her mother spoke of, Amber prepares for death only to wake with a handsome, dark stranger in her bed.

Gavin Kincaid spends his life shifting time in order to preserve and protect the MacCoinnich family and their line even though he’s never met one living MacCoinnich. A haunting portrait of a beautiful woman captures his attention and he embarks on a quest to put a name to the picture. When a colleague vanishes, the time-stream forces Kincaid to the twenty first century where he finds his mystifying woman close to death. His Druid gift can save her, but at what price? And when they both find themselves emotionally linked, the truth behind Kincaid’s heritage just might kill them both.

need more

I hope there is more to this series I have loved all 5 parts so far. the narrator needs to work on his female voices and not make them all sound weak and whiny. these are strong women and need to sound as such

All books in the series-Excellent!

What a gift this author has...I enjoyed every story in this series. Each had its own unique twist while transitioning into the next book. I love the fact the stories were not repeating or lingering.

The first book narration seemed a little off kilter but I believe this narrator just needed to find his groove. These are reasons I gave the book a Five Star. It deserves the highest praise. I would recommend starting from the first book and reading the whole series.

Cliff hanger, yes, but it's no biggie!

Cliff hanger is not a problem in this book, Amber's issues are resolved on track & the character involved in the cliffhanger is predictable from previous books. I usually won't listen if I know a cliffhanger is pending, but this one isn't bad and I enjoyed the book and narration.

Highland Protector

I love the choices between the good/evil or black/white actions or reactions of the characters. Excellent writing and David Monteath provided his experienced vocal expertise to breath life into the characters. 😍

The storyline is good but…

The plot is good and I would absolutely read this entire series via book. The gentleman who reads this has an appropriate Scottish/Irish accent, but he lacks the sensitive understanding and emotion of the female rolls which makes the reading a bit less desirable, IMO. Change to a female reader and the book would have been much more desirable.

Cliff Hanger, black hole or void

The prophecy said nothing can be written and the ink disappears. I am sure that Selma, Giles and Mrs. Dawson can find a way to record information that can appear once the war between good and evil is over. However, time travel would, most likely, have to be over as well.

Highland Protector

Awe man there was a cliffhanger in the end. Dang and no new book in site. What gives Catherine Bybee? I thought that this would have closure with the MacCoinnich Clan. But no! Amber is the youngest daughter of the MacCoinnich clan back in the 1600s and the one who is dying due to the emotions of all those around her. Her ability of empath is killing her from the inside out. Her mother's vision for her daughter is to send her forward in time so that she can meet the knight who will save her. But how can that be? He is far in the future and Gavin Kincaid, a druid knight who has taken an oath to protect the MacCoinnich clan is from the 2231, he is also a time travel with special abilities that non other have. She is in the year 2012 living in the Dawson's mansion. Here we see the significance of the US to Scotland connection. When due to circumstances only the ancients know for sure, What happens involves all MacCoinnich from the Ean and his clan to the future of druid knights in 2231. But again it ends with a cliffhanger. At least we know that Amber and Gavin have fallen in love and will stand together for the ensuing skirmish that going to happen.
