Publisher's summary

Ivy Thompson has seen her share of tragedy, but despite drowning in medical bills from her mother's fight with cancer, Ivy chooses to see the glass as half full. Especially when she gets a job at the brand new Avangarde Castle and Resort. Working as a front desk clerk for the intriguing and good-looking Eli Truman is just icing on the cake. Except Eli turns out to be cold, demanding and has sworn off women for the rest of his life.

Eli Truman was thrust into the spotlight when he and his brothers accidentally found a treasure in the castle they were renovating. The media dubbed them "the overnight billionaire bachelors", and Eli wants nothing to do with the fame and women that have fallen in his path. When the beautiful Ms. Ivy turns his head, he stubbornly holds on to his decision to steer clear from relationships. But despite the fact that they're complete opposites and he's her boss, he can't seem to stay away. The longer he's around her, the more his icy facade begins to thaw, until old hurts remind him why he retreated from the world in the first place and Eli finds evidence that Ivy might not be who she claimed.

Poor Narration

While the novel would have been more interesting, very poor narration..

I was not sure when it was Ivy speaking or when it was Eli!

Love the story, the performance was lacking

I give this a 3.5 star rating based on the narration. I have read this entire series and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I was beyond excited to have it in audio form for busy days. The performance was lack luster. The narrator didn’t provided varying voices, which breathes so much life into audiobooks. I wish I could have like the reading of it more.

Story five stars. Narrator three stars.

The narrator I give three stars. She slurred words as if she is tipsy or trying to keep false teeth in. I don’t say that to be funny it’s just how it comes across to me. I am giving the story five stars because this is the second time I’ve read it and I thought I would be a little bored but it was as enjoyable the second time as it was the first time. I only give five stars to books that I want to read again. The audiobook was a bonus given to me to give a fair and honest rating. I’ve heard better and worse narrators. This one is in the middle.

Narrators can make or break a story

Sweet, clean, and somewhat predictable story filled with angst and miscommunication. The Prologue hinted at an interestin story about the fortune--where it came from, who it belonged to initially, and whether it really belonged to the three brothers - but nada. Iwould have used a different narrator. The voice wasn't right for this book and was barely tolerable but played at 1.25 speed, I was able to get through it.

The voice

Sorry, but for a young female character, the voice sounded like a Grandma ready to the kids. Had to read the book instead.
